The appearance is sponsored
by the Klamath Merchants As
sociation. Santa Claus and his
reindeer come from Reindeer
Ranch near Jicdmond.
The five reindeer will lie in
pens and children will be al
lowed to pet them. Santa Claus
will hold court in his sleigh,
hear the wishes of the youns
sters and hand out candy. San
ta and his reindeer will be on
Main Street between 4 and 9
p.m. Dec. 18.
The reindeer were originally
flown from Alaska to Redmond
and domesticated and climatised
by John Zumstein.
It takes about two years to
climatizc a reindeer and from
one to two years to' harness
break them.

Supreme Court Denies
Child Slayer New Trial

naee June Freeman's apteal
for a new trial.
The high court, in a unani
mous decision, upheld a Marion
County Circuit Court decision
which denied her plea for a new
trial under the state's post-conviction
relief act.
It is the second time the State
Supreme Court has upheld her
conviction and death penalty (or
the 19fil slaying of six-year-old
Larry Jackson, who was thrown
into the Crooked River Gorge
in Central Orenon.
The ruling exhausts her state
court appeal possibilities.
She can still appeal to federal
courts.
The United States Supreme
Court has twice refused to hear
her case.
Miss Freeman would be the
first woman to die in Oregon's
gas chamber.
Miss Freeman Is 22.
Miss Freeman's attorneys, in
.her appearance before Marion
County Circuit Judge ieorge A.
Jones, had asked lor a now trial
on tlie ground that she had been
deprived of her constitutional
rights under both the United
States and Oregon constitutions.
The Supreme Court said that
the grounds set forth in tlie
