Against Parking Meters

Shasta Arcade building.
Any item of ski equipment or
clothing may be brought to the
swap. The seller will pr ice his
item, pay a 25-cent registra
tion fee, and give 10 per cent
to the club for handling
charges if the item is sold. All
interested persons are invited
to buy or sell at the swap. The
proceeds will be used for club
activities, including the sponsor
ship of the Junior Ski Race
Team.
Articles may be left at the
swap on Friday from 2 to 8
p.m.
Thompson Case Ready To Go To Jury

Six men and six women were
expected to begin deciding to
day whether T. Eugene Thomp
son's pretty heiress wife was
killed at his request or died in
a burglary in the approaching
climax of one of tlie genera
tion's most celebrated murder
trials.
Prosecutor William B. Ran
dall and defense attorney Hyam
B. Segell were to present clos
ing arguments today, followed
by Hennepin County District
Court Judge Rolf Fosseen's de
tailed instructions to the jury.
Segell was expected to take
more time in his clos.ing re
marks, in contrast to his brief
presentation of witnesses to the
jury.
More than 100 witnesses took
tlie stand during the first de
gree murder trial, which is in
its sixth week. Most were called
by the prosecution. It contends
Thompson, 36, masterminded
the slaying of Carol Thompson,
34, last March 6.
His motive, tlie state charged,
was to collect the more than $1
million insurance he had bought
on his wife's life, most of it in
the past 13 months, and to be
free to resume an affair with
his former mistress.
The defense contends that
Mrs. Thompson was beaten and
stabbed to death by Dick W. C.
Anderson, 33, during a burglary
at tlie Thompson's itO.OOO home
in the fashionable Highland
Park section of St. Paul.
It was expected the jury
would have only three alterna
tives. It could find tlie boyish
looking Thompson guilty of first
degree murder, it could find
him innocent or it could fail to
reach a decision.

Sirs. Dwyer reported Wednes
day that on Nov. 20 a working
agreement had been signed be
tween the LPNs and the Cen
tral Oregon District Hospital of
Redmond.
This agreement brings to 10,
those signed between hospital
administrations and tlie nurses
including six hospitals in Port
land, one cadi in North Bend,
Klamath Falls, Prineville and
now Kedmond. Negotiation pro
ceedings arc under way in Coos
Bay.
