Quips and
Th Oal in the OaHey
Ok, nme people harry toward
Indian curry.
And others are nnla for spaghetti.
A few place their benison squarely
on venison,
Pheasant or squab or Brown Betty.
Some fly up from Austin for beans
in Boston,
And some go to France for the truffles.
There's even a glutton for old
English mutton
Bedizened with paper-lace ruffles.
And many sing praise for
exotic souffles,
Or swear that tamales are drooly.
But home by the range, such foibles
seem strange
To this old gourmet, yours truly.
For I'd deem it a thrill to be eating
my fill
Wherever I might get tooken
For an innertube stew or a
fricasseed shoe
That was somebody else's eookin!
Georgie Starbuck Galbruith
The neighborhood children had been
invited to the youngster's birthday party,
and each brought a present. One kid of
fered a toy six-shooter, another a re
alistic army bazooka, a third a rubber
Bowie knife, and still another a space
age rocket gun.
The guest of honor was disconsolate.
"I don't know how to play with guns and
knives," he said sadly. "You see, we don't
have a television set." Jamet Shurluck
The young couple had completely re
modeled their old home. There were
many improvements, but the one the
wife was proudest of was her brightly
polished hardwood floors.
"When we bought the place," she ex
plained, "the floors were in terrible
shape. But since I've worked on them,
three people have fallen down!"
Giles H. Runyon
That something "borrowed" at most
weddings is what it cost the bride's
father to finance the shindig.

Was it you who said give me a nice-looking car that really
moves but doesn't cost too much ? Well, here it is, with
an engine and drive train guaranteed 5 years or 50,000
miles. That's a powerful argument, and it belongs to
the 1964 Plymouth, a car you'll be proud of for a long
time. If this is the year you picked to buy a new car, you
picked a beautiful year to
