two were held by juvenile author
ities. The two older boys implicated
the 1.1-year - old and said he1
apreed to the plan.
In California an 18-year - old
could be tried on a murder
charge under the adult capital
punishment laws. In some cases
youngsters under that age have
been tried as adults, but rarely
has that ace been dropped even
as low as 15 years.
Police said the elder Farley
had been beaten, smothered anil
then held below water in a bath
tub until he ceased to struggle
because "be d been a brute (or
12 years."
"I was afraid of him and so
were the children," Mrs. Farley
told officers.
She said her husband had often
beaten her and had harassed the
family for 12 years. Mrs. Farley
said she and the boys made plans
to retaliate the next time Farley
lost his temper and beat her.
The "next time" was Tuesday.

54, free from a second - degree
murder charge in the April 9
shooting death of Edward Richard
Bisig, 31.
The eight women and four men
of the jury deliberated two hours
and 10 minutes.
The case was tried on a change
of venue from Sherman County
hefnre Circuit Judge E. H. Howell
of Canyon City.
Baker testified he was only try
ing to disarm Bisig when the
shooting occurred.
Bisig's estranged wife testified
earlier she had fled to Baker's
garage alter her husband had
beaten her.

The victims, found in the bed
room of the flat, were Janice
Wylie, 21, an employe of News
week magazine who hoped to be
come an actress, and Emily Hot
ter!. 23. daughter of a prominent
Minneapolis surgeon, who had
planned to start leaching school
next month.
The bodies were removed from
the third-floor apartment shortly
after midnight and taken, still
hound together, to the morgue at
Beilevue Hospital where au
topsies will be performed later to
day.
Lawrence McKeainey, an as
sistant chief of detectives, said

leads." Of the killings, he said:
"This is really sadistic."
"We're reaching for anyone,"
McKearney said, when asked if
