for brothers and sisters to be
separated by the distance factor

Such was tlie case of Charlie
A. Ramp, 500 Martin Street,
who until last week had not seen
a Jacksonville, Fla., sister. Mrs.
John Mahoney, for over 29 years.
Since moving lo Oregon, Ramp
occasionally visited three other
sisters in Oklahoma, as did Mrs.
Mahoney, but they never seemed
to schedule their trips at the
same time.
Finally Mrs. John Whayne Jr..
of Tulsa, Mrs. Jack Linduff of
Tecumseli. and Mrs. Helen
Whitman of Oklahoma City de
cided to bring tlie long-parted
pair together by staging a fam
ily reunion at Mrs. Whitman's
home on Aug. 18.
The biggest surprise of the re
union was saved for the Florida
sister, who was not told that her
brother would be present. Al
though she did not immediately
recognize him. Mrs. Mahoney and
Ramp were soon happily recall
ing events of their childhood in
Illinois and catching up on 29
years of news.

The Bureau of Land Manaoc-I
merit announced recently that
the forest service, U.S. Depart
ment of Agriculture, has filed an
application to set aside 608
acres in the Siskiyou National
Forest in Josephine and Curry
counties. The Jands are to be
used for campground and rec-
realion areas, administrative
sites, and one combination ad
ministrative sile and recreation
parking area.
Locations include Illinois Falls,
Oregon Caves Nalional 'Monu
ment Buffer Strip, Cave Creek,
Bigelow Lake and Tannen Lake
campgrounds. The areas are un
der the supervision of the Re
gional Forester, Forest Service,
at Portland, Ore.
Stanley D. Lester, BLM Land
Office manager, staled that this
type of withdrawal protects gov
e'r n m e n t improvement invest
mcnts and also secures the lands
for public uses. The lands would
be closed to location and entry
under the general mining laws,
subject to valid existing claims.

said.
