Many Famous Patients
Ward had many famous pa
tients as an osteopath and many
more famous subjects for his oth
er career as artist. The patients
included Sir Winston Churchill and
Elizabeth Taylor. His portrait
subjects included Prince Philip
and Princess Margaret.
There was no indication, how
ever, of whom he planned to call
as character witnesses.
It was his third alleged career
that brought him to trial before
the Old Bailey Court on charges
of living off the earnings of Chris
tine and Mandy, enticing other
girls into prostitution, and procur
ing an abortion. He pleaded inno
cent to all charges.
Ward's activities in this field
came under investigation after
Profumo resigned in disgrace, ad
mitting to the House of Com
mons he had lied when he denied
having an affair with Christine,
who also was tlie mistress of the
Soviet naval attaclie, Eugene Iv-anov.

BLY Funeral services were
held at Ward's Klamath Funeral
Home on July 17 for Mrs. Clara
belle Chambers.
Mrs. Chambers, 72, died July
13 at Hillside Hospital following
a lingering illness.
She was wed to Nels Chambers
on June 13, 1913, in Moosejaw,
Saskatchewan, Canada. They
moved to Bly in 1951 where her
husband was employed with the
Forest Service.
She is survived by her hus
band, Ncls Chambers; one of
four children, Mrs. Evic
Richter of North Bend, Ore. ; one
sister, Ada Forbes of Carthage,
N.Y ; and eight grandchildren
and one'great-grandchild.

Preliminary figures show a
record 4,600,000,000 board feet of
timber valued at $78,643,379 was
harvested on the national forests
of Oregon and Washington in fis
cal year 1963.
The harvest exceeds all past
fiscal year figures by more than
400,000,000 board feet, reports J.
Herbert Stone, regional forester,
U.S. Forest Service.
Total volume of timber sold
during the year reached 5,314,-
811,000 board feet with a value
of $80,666,672.05. The total in
cludes a sale of pine stumps with
volume equivalent to 500,000,000
board feet. The stumps, sold to

poration for chemical extraction,
were in portions of the Deschutes,
Winema, and Fremont national
forests of Southern Oregon. But,
without the stump volume, a sales
record was established with the
total exceeding last year's figure
by 14 million board feet
