Robin Roberts pitched his 251st
big league victory Saturday night
and gave the Baltimore Orioles a
6-3 triumph over the Kansas City
Athletics.
The veteran righthander hurled
S 1-3 hitless innings before Jose
Tartabull lined a single to right
center.
It was Roberts' fifth bid for his
seventh victory of the season. His
last win was June 25. With the
victory. Roberts moved witliin two
wins of tying Urban Faber and
Carl Hubbell for 24th place among
the all-time winners.
A five-run outburst in the fourth
inning off Dave Wickersham
sacked up the game for the Ori
oles. Luis Aparicio started the
inning with a walk and scored
from first when Russ Snyder
slugged the ball in front of the
plate and Wickersham fielded and
threw wide at first.
The ball hit first baseman
Norm Siebern's glove just as Sny-
der reached the bag. The players
collided and fell to the ground
The ball rolled into short right
field and Aparicio scored. Siebern
had to leave the game with an
injured elbow, but Snyder played
two more innings before retiring

Philadelphia Phillies won their
fifth in a row when they pounced
on lefty Al Jackson for five early
runs and then went on to defeat
the New York Mets 5-1 Saturday.
Dallas Green, winning his sec
ond complete game in a row,
handed the Mets their 14th con
secutive road defeat. Jackson lost
his fourth straight after last beat
ing the Phils on June 21.
Duke Snider saved the Mets
from total eclipse when he hit
his 13th homer in the sixth. He
also tripled with one out in the
eighth but was stranded.

HONOLULU (UPI) - Pitcher
Bo Belinsky, late of the Los An
geles Angels, arrived in Hawaii
Saturday carrying a pool cue and
with a full schedule of night club
dates but vowed he was here to
play baseball.
Bclinski, shipped down two
months ago by the Angels after a
dismal 1-7 record, reported Satur
day to the Hawaii Islanders of the
Pacific Coast League.
"I really am not here to fool
around," said the handsome Hurl
er, who leaped to fame with a no
hitter last year, but has made
headlines since only on his night
club life. "I hope to work myself
back into shape within the next 10
days and if 1 can pitch earlier,
fine. The main thing now is that
I take it slow and easy and don't
hurt myself. Remember, 1 have
not pitched in two months."
Belinsky refused to report to Ha
waii after his failure with the An
gels. Since that time he has been
engaged and dis-engaged to Ma
mie Van Doren oi the movies.
Bo was met at the plane by
the usual bevy of girls who placed
floral leis around his neck and
then kissed him. Finally taking
his eyes off the girls, he reiter
ated: "It's all baseball from here
out."
When reporters asked lum if
the package he carried under his
arm was his pool cue, he replied:
"Yeah. That's what it is. I hear
there are some good players on
this island."
He later gagged it up and said
what he really was carrying was
a flute.
His first night in Hawaii was
spent al a cocktail party given
by Honolulu sportsman Francis
H. I. Brown. Later in the evening
he planned to attend a night club
opening by his friend, singer uiuy
Daniels.
"But remember," he added. "1
don't want to fight the night club
circuit the first night after arriv
ing here."

It was the 300th homer of Roy
Sievcrs' career but the man who
will never forget it is pitcher
Roger Craig.
For Sievers it meant joining 21
other sluggers in the 300-homer
class but for Craig it was another
heart-breaking jolt in the hard-
luck pitcher's incredible scries of
bad breaks.
Sievers connected with one on
and one out in the last of the
ninth inning Friday night to hand
the Philadelphia Phillies a 2-1 vic
tory over the New York Mots and
give them 10 wins in their last
13 games and 17 in their last
24. It also left Craig in a state
of numbed shock for about a half
hour after the ball sailed into the
left field stands.
