Idaho Rites Unite Couple
MALIN - The First Presby-l
tei'ian Church in Weiser, Idaho,
was the setting on June 23 for
the 2 o'clock ceremony in which
Patti Burleigh, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Burleigh, Morrill,
became the bride of Jerry Micka
Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry
Micka Sr., Maun.
The couple repeated their vows
in a double ring ceremony before
their only attendants, Mr. and
Mrs. Sam Snippy, Weiser, Ida
ho, aunt and uncle of the bride
groom. The bride wore a white gown
of nylon organza-with full skirt,
chapel train and lilted bodice
fashioned with sweetheart neck
line and cap sleeves. The elbow
length illusion veil was held
place by a crown of white flowers.
She carried a bouquet of red car
nations. She wore the traditional
blue garter and a lucky penny in
her slipper.
For the wedding trip to parts
of Eastern Idaho and Reno, the
bride was dressed in a two-piece
beige suit with red accessories
and the carnations irom ner dow
quet as a corsage.
The bride is a gr aduate of Mer
rill High School and attended
Southern Oregon College. She was
slate president of Theta Rho. The
bridegroom attended Malin High
School and is engaged in farming
with his father in the Malin area.
They recently purchased the Joe
Micka ranch north of Malin and

Sojourners
Plan Picnic
Plans for the annual Sojourner
family picnic were discussed at
the July 10 meeting of the group
at the Willard Hotel. Hostesses
were Mrs. Don Guise and Mr
Calvin Shaw.
Card winners were Mrs. Earl
Parker, bridge, Mrs. C. E. Gales
canasta, and Mrs. Doug Napier,
pinochle.
The picnic will be held July
24 at Wiard Park from 4:30 p.m.
until dark. Entertainment will
feature a fish pond, tennis, ping
pong and other games.
A spaghetti dinner will be
served at 6:30 p.m. Members are
asked to bring table service and
either a salad, relishes, dessert
or french bread. Coffee and punch
will be furnished.
Children under 4 will be served
free, from 4 to 12 years, 25 cents,
and those over 12, 50 cents.

The 12th annual Theta Rho As
sembly of Oregon opened in Mer
uit with Patty Burleigh, presi
dent of the assembly, presiding.
DDroximatelv 220 girls and adults
from all over the state registered
for the sessions held in the Mer
rill High School gymnasium.
Installation of officers was held
Thursday evening, June 20, in
verv lmnressive ceremony. AH
officers were dressed in Iloor
length pink formals, with pink and
white rose corsages at t n e
waist. The hall was beautifully
decorated with piuk and white
the Dresident's color. In the cen
ter of the background on the
stage, the president's motto,
Happiness through Friendship,
was of blue letters on white back
ground. President Patty's song,
One God," was sung by Cora .n-
man. Baton twirling routine was
presented by Janey Rettereth as
taught to her by Patty.
The assembly officers met tor
breakfast in the Cedar Room
it the Willard Hotel Friday morn
ing.
Friday's session was opened by
Alpha Omega No. 48, Merrill,
seating the assembly officers. The
president, carrying an arm bou
nuet of roses, was escorted into
the room under a pink net cano
py decorated with roses and car
ried by four girls of Alpha
Omega No. 48, all dressed in
white. As each officer was es
corted to her station, she was
presented a gift from the presi
dent. The courtcsv committee intro
duced the joint youth committee
and distinguished guests from all
branches of the order.
James Chance, president of the
Merrill Lions Club, gave the ad
dress of welcome. Barbara" Wil
son, Gamma Zcta No. 78, gave
the response. Assembly was then
opened with all but one officer
answering roll call. Tribute to
the Grand Lodge was given by
Omicron No. 15, Medford. Roll
call showed 30 clubs represented
by 45 delegates. Initiation was
given by Gamma Alpha No. 73,
Walterville. with one candidate
from Alpha Omega, Merrill, initiated.
A tribute to the Bible was given
by Beta Chi No. 70, Central
Point.
A tribute to the Rebekah As
sembly was given by Beta No. 2,
Portland; to tlie American Flag
by Beta lota No. 57, Salem, and
to the Joint Youth Committee by
Beta Mu No. 60, Warrenton.

BARBECUE PARTY
LANGELL VALLEY Mr. and
Mrs. Mike Dearborn entertained
with a barbecue at their home on
June 23. Their guests were Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Milne, Johnnie
Dee and Terry Milne, and her
mother, Mrs. Terrill, visiting here
lrom Kansas; Mr. and Mrs.
Howrey Roberts, Patty, Joan and
Tim, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Monroe,
Mrs. Eva Roberts and Paul and
Ted Dearborn. In the afternoon
the piano pupils of Paul Dearborn
gave a recital.
Oregon Tech. Mistress of cere
monies was Katie Lake.
Competitive drills were held and
Grass Valley won the trophy.
Helen Blanas, Klamath Falls,
Herb Munsell, Klamath Falls, and
Bartra Baglcy, Springfield, were
the judges.
Presentation of awards were
made by the Joint Youth Committee.
Saturday morning sessions were
opened with Theta No. B, Klam
ath Falls, seating the assembly
officers. The girls dressed in blue;
carried baskets of gifts and pre
sented one to each officer as they
were seated.
A tribute to the advisers and as
sistant advisers was given by
Gamma Kappa No. 83, Baker
President Patty reported on her
project, helping the elevator fund
for the lOOF Home in Portland.
Committee reports were made
and the meeting place for 1964 was
named by the newly elected pres
ident. Eugene w ill be the hostess
in 11164. Assembly was then closed.
Saturday afternoon public in
stallation of new officers took
place. Betty Schncr, junior past
president. Alpha Pi No. 82. Coos
Bay, presided. The installing
officer was assisted by Kay Wheel
er, marshal, and Nedra Dickman,
chaplain.

olic Daughters of America by Mrs.
