All full and all winter and most of the spring
We quibble and fuss in our house.
The furnace, turned down, is just right for the kids
But too frigid for me and my spouse.
Then when it's turned high for this lliin-hlooded pair.
The children complain. Oh, the gall of us!
But in summer no more do we disagree
Our house is too hot for all of us!

was spending his first season. The boy was exuberant about
his achievements. "And Tuesday," he said, reporting his
activities, "I jumped off the diving board all by myself."
"Fine," said his father, "but didn't you tell me you went
off the board last week?"
"Sure," Junior replied, "but last week I was pushed."

"Don't be too sure," the husband answered. "Did you see
them unload their bank account?" Anna Herbert
The little girl heard her parents mention that they
planned to attend a lecture on psychology that night. "May
I go with you, please?" she appealed.
"No, honey," her father replied. "Why, you don't even
know what psychology is."
"Oh, yes, I do," the child said. "It's what little girls use
to get ice-cream money from Daddies." F. G. Kernan
