The Tri-City Gems split a pair
of weekend clashes, dropping a
Friday night encounter St Med
ford 16-1 but turning back Ash
land Sunday at Merrill 5-1.
The Gems were unable to solve
the offerings of Enyart and Smith
at Medford. and found their field
ing capabilities somewhat faulty.
They got only four hits, but com
mitted six errors while Medford
rapped out 16 hits off Berry and
Hill.
Sunday was a different story,
however, with the Gems punch
ing out five runs on eight hits and
committing only a single error.
Hill went the route, limiting Ash
land to five hits and a lone tally.

day's tilt with a double and a

clash, the Medo-Bels again struck
for four runs in an inning, this
time the second, adding three
more in the fourth for all their
scoring while Dunsmuir could
score only a single tally in the
sixth.
Hi Hatfield, manager, started
on the mound for the Medo-Bels,
going five innings, giving up three
hits and no runs. Ron Owings
took over the mound chores in
the sixth and Dean Dunson in
the eighth.
Four singles, a base on bulls!
and a pair of errors accounted for
the four big tallies by the Medo-
Bels in the second inning. Two
singes, a double by Griggs and
an error accounted for three
more in the fourth.
The lone Dunsmuir tally came in
the sixth inning. Back-to-back sin
gles by Ron Simpson and Ed
Flowers, a walk to Carl Smith
and a wild pitch permitted Simp
son to score from third.
Griggs led the Medo-Bels with
three for five at the plate.
