Check Yourself Often
For Annoying Habits
A- JH 1
By ANN LANDERS
Dear Ann Landers: In the last
three days 1 have received five
copies of your columns the one
about the wom
an who had s
habit of punch
ing people in the
arm or socking
: them in the ribs
to emphasize a
point. One clip
ping was mailed
I f r o m another
city.
There is no question but that
I'm guilty of the habit. What
puzzles me, however, is how
person can have such a habit
and not know it. I recall reading
that column and I laughed. It nev
er occurred to me that I could be
the woman.
from now on I'm going to make
a real effort to keep my hands
to myself. I am deeply grateful
to my friends who went to the
trouble of mailing me the clip
pings. I only wish someone had
told me years ago. It makes me
sad to think I have been abusing
my friends for heaven knows how
long. Thank you for everything
Ann. -REFORMED PUGILIST.
Dear Reformed: Your letter
supports my contention that this
habit Is indeed an unconscious
one. Some readers wrote to say
I was off base that no person
could sock and punch and not
know he was doing It. I'm happy
you wrote.
Dear Ann Landers: You are
a fine human relations columnist
but a bum attorney. You told
"Conscience" tile woman whose
husband filed a bankruptcy peti
tion that since she felt guilty
about "sticking all those people"
(many were personal friendsl she
should indeed go back to work and
pay them. You furuier recom
mended that she write or phone
and advise them of her good in
tentions. You said she'd probably
"feel better immediately."
The advice is beautiful from
a human relations point of view,
but legally such a move would
be disastrous. The woman would
have her husband right back in
hock to all his creditors.
The only safe way for a person
to repay a debt which has been
cancelled under a bankruptcy fil
ing is to make no promises w hat
ever, hut to quietly save t h e
amount owed one creditor, pay
in full, and then go on to the
next creditor and the next
and so on.
Please give the word to the
lady at once, and stop practicing
law without a license, Doll.
JUDGE 0. F. D.
Dear Judge: Twenty swats for
me with a rolled up writ of'
replevin. Dozens of attorneys and j
a few judges wrole to inform me j
that I had slopped over into their
territory. I promise not to try
to practice law In the future if
you lawyers will promise not to
try to write an advice column.
Dear Ann Landers: My husband
has a 22-year-old daughter bv a
former marriage. Ellen was. raised
by her mother and she's always
been a problem.' She has been
in trouble with truant officers and
icacne.-;. r many she w a s
expelled from school and had to
graduate through! the mail.
My husband saw very little of
then until three months ago. Sud
denly they have taken quite an
interest in each other. The reason
she is being married this fall
and wants a nice, beautiful, ex
pensive wedding.
My husband has less than $100
in the bank, yet he wants to give
her a wedding which will cost
about $1,000. He says he'll borrow
the balance. I don't mind bor
rowing in case of necessity but
this is a luxury and 1 am against
il. What is your advice? PIG-EON-TOEI?
Dear Pigeon: Your husband I
Is probably feeling guilty about
neglecting Ellen all these years
and this Is his wav of making
It up to her. Let him do as he
wishes about his daughter's wed
ding. It may be a "luxury" to
OU hut to him It is a neces
silv.

Brown's Plumbing & Heating, Inc., has now opined up o refrigeration busi
ness hero in Klamath Falls to take care of the enormous amount of con
tracts and requests for commercial refrigeration in this area. We intend to
handle the refrigeration as wt have our Plumbing & Heating business, with
the same dependence we have shown since we came to this area and we
also hope to grow as we did in our plumbing & heating business.
Remember, we base all our business on what we know, what we enjoy doing
and the satisfaction we can give our customers and we know that keeping
customers is o good honest business. We depend on them and they depend
on us. This is just what we have been trying our best to do and we will
continue to the best of our ability to keep doing the same in the refrigera
tion business.
I have had several years of experience in large commercial refrigeration in
stallation. We tie this together with plumbing and heating, for your me
chanical refrigeration men all belong to tha same union which, I know
will work here as it does in most oil other cities and towns across the nation.
Mr. Fred Forsythe will be the man to contact and I am sure most of you
know Fred, for he has been around Klamath Foils for some time.
So, as they say, let's put the show on the road. We will sell the best and
service the rest.

PORTLAND (UPP-State lie
puhlican Chairman Philip Roth to
day defended Rep. Walter Nor
blad's vote against a $450 million
extension of Area Redevelopment
Agency activity.
"Contrary to the charges o(
Slate Democratic Chairman E. D.
Spencer," Roth said, "Norhlad
has done taxpayers a service in
voting against the extension."
"To date the Area Redevelop
ment Agency has utilized less
than one-third of its available au
thorization, making the additional
appropriation excessive and un
necessary," Roth said.
Roth said the first AHA
project in Oregon, the refinancing
of a plywood mill in Grants Pass,
was pushed through over objec
tions of lumbermen in the area.
