Valiants Halt
Ramblers' Drive
Olson's Valianls, which slopped
Kingsley's title drive last week,
halted the hot streak of Eccles
Ramblers in Monday night's
South Suburban Little League ac
tion. Kingsley nipped the Team

Olson's dropped the Ramblers,
8-2, behind the combined six-hit
pitching of Pat Gallagher and
Dcane Fischer. Each hurler
gave three hits apiece.
The Ramblers used three hurl
ers with Mike Davidson taking the
loss as the starter. Scott Adrian
slammed a home run with no one
aboard in the sixth inning. Adri
an Hall doubled for the winners.
Olson's had 10 hits to six for
Eccles. Hal Barleen belted a pair
of singles as did Randy Shaw.
Davidson led the losers with a
single and double.
Kingsley used three pitchers to
notch its victory. Mike Negrevski
opened, was lifted for Scott Smel-
cer who was taken out in favor of
Cecil Davis. Rudy Carlson was
the Jnser. Smelcer was the win
ner. Each team got seven hits.
Chris Carlson was the leading
hitter for the winners with a
double and single. Rusty Klem
also busted a double as did Davis.
Val Carlson had a single and
double for the Teamsters.

produced the highest score of the
season. There were 47 runs
scored in seven frames, an aver
age of almost seven per inning.
Oxygen got 22 hits and the aid
of 15 errors. Oxygen pitching
gave up 16 hits-and made six
errors.
Osa led the hitters in this game
with five hits. He had a triple, dou
ble and three singles. B. Hackler
had a double and three singles,
Huck and Cavarretta each had
three singles. The losers were led
by G. Jones with a triple, double
and single, Nealy a double and
two singles, M. Carlson, two dou
bles and a single, and Rutherford,
three hits.
Tatum. a hit by Greg Cush
man, then a pair of outs which
advanced the runners to second
and third and another walk to
catcher Jim Meyers and an error.
Fluhrer's came back with three
runs in their half of the sec
ond. Jim Phillips walked and
stole second. He scored on Sam
McKeen's double and two were
put out before leadoff batter Rick
Lynn singled to score McKeen.
Steve Lynn walked to put two
on base and Gene Harp singled
to score Rick Lynn with the
third run. That was all the runs
for the Bakers.
Tulelake came back with the
tying run in the fourth. Gary
Tatum walked, took second on an
error by the Bakers' catcher aft
er Cushman had walked and
scored on a ground out.
Crawford came up and won
his own game in the fifth inning
when he, as the first batter up,
slammed a home run to win it.
McKeen was the only one to
get a pair of hits with a double
and single.
Turner hurled a masterful two
hit job at Chiloquin and the losers
contributed with six errors. Jim
Bridge led the winners withe
booming home run and a single.
Cecil Bettlcs and losing pitcher
Joe Hood were the only hitters
for Chiloquin.
Dugan and Mest tallied once in
the first frame, but Chiloquin tied
the game at 1-1 in the second.
Dugan and Mest regained the
lead in their half of the second

more in the third and capped
their final lime at bat with three

Dunning of Astoria and Mark
Gustafson of Corvallis.
John Krogh of Portland took
medalist honors in the qualifying
for the boys' division with 77.
Other low scorers were Peggy
Conley of Spokane with 83 in the
girls' division, Wayne Iurila of
Coos Bay with 45 in the pee wee
division and Stacie Young of Lake
Oswego with 71 in the pec wee
girls' division.
Match play began today. The
tournament ends Friday.

pitched by Larry Pepper. The
Studs won the first game, a
league counter, 3-0, and the 6'

Pepper hurled excellent ball In
striking out 10 Hawks. He hurt
his arm. however, with one strike
on the last batter of the game and
Wayne Clay came in to pitch two
strikes to the final Hawk batter
for the no-hit game.
Neil Rivenburg led the Studs
with a double, the only extra base
blow of the day. Dave Hill took
the loss on the mound with
fine aix-hit performance.
The Hawks got only three hits
in the second game off Wayne
Mason of the Studs. Dennis Berry
hurled a six-hit game for the
Hawks. Brad Slezak of the Hawks
led all batters with a booming
home run. Lou Alvarez had a pair
