Will, starting his first game for
Salt Lake after being sent down
by the Chicago Cubs in exchange
for Ellis Burton, bashed a two
run homer in leading the Bees to
a 12-9 win over Denver.
Home runs by Satriano. Hunt
and Carlos Bernicr carried Ha
waii to a 41 win over Oklahoma
City in the opener of a twin bill.
Newman and Duliba combined to
limit the 8934s to five hits. All
except Bernicr were sent to Ho
nolulu earlier this season by the
parent Los Angeles Angls.
Brunt allowed Hawaii only four
singles, three by Bernier who ran
his' consecutive game hitting
streak to 14, in blanking the Is
landers 8-0 in the second game.
It was the second shutout of the
season for Brunei (4-21 who pitch
ed for the Houston Colts last
year.
San Diego's twin triumphs lifted
the Padres to within one game of
southern division leader Dallas
Ft. Worth. Wills hit a solo homer
to aid his cause. In addition the j San Diego
lefthander rapped a pinch single Sadowski,
seventh homer with the bases
empty in the second game.
In Saturday's action. Oklahoma
City edged Hawaii 5-4. Dallas-Ft.
Worth nipped San Diego 9-8 in 1 1
innings. Spokane had to go 10 in
nings before beatirg Portland 9-7.
