REBEL WITH A CAUSE Talk about a baseball mananer havinq a rhubarb with the
ump! This is the end. In a game between two Marine Corps teams in Naha, Okinawa,
the Royals and the Strikers, manager Bob Fisher, left, of the Royals, protested Ump
Joe Flanagan's calling his runner out at the plalo on close play. In avoiding the beef,
Flanagan decided to dust off fhe plate. Fisher decided fo follow it up and this scene
ensued. One would think a Marine had had enough of this type of early morning ex

Flare As Bright As 1962
By United Press International
Ralph Houk and Billy Hitchcock
have another feud going and this
one could be a pip.
The two managers had to be
separated during a sudden flare-
up in New York last summer.
Neither threw any punches in
Baltimore Thursday night but both
got in some hot-tempered con
versational licks after the Orioles
beat tlie Yankees 4 2 to take a
l'i game lead in tlie American
League race.
"We'll win the pennant."
snapped Houk. obviously smarting
over the fact the Yankees lost two
cut of three games to the Orioles.
Baltimore won t beat us. You
can bet on that and you can put
it in headlines."
Cooling olf a bit. Houk conced
ed "tlie Orioles have a good ball
club." then hastily added, "but
I think wo have a better one-
even with our injuries."
Apprised of the Yankee man
ager's comments, Hitchcock coun
tered:
"I'm glad Houk is so concerned

lie worried about us to be so
concerned."
