compete in Japn this summer
will see more of Nippon than
most tourists.
That much was guaranteed this
week when a nine-match sched
ule involving nearly 2.000 miles
of travel within Japan was an-Tic Fact Sidp

nounced.
The Oregon schoolboys will de
part from Portland aboard a Pan-
Am jet flight July 9, spend three
days in Hawaii and arrive in Ja
pan July 13. They w ill open their
exhibition schedule July IS in
Tokyo and end it there Aug. 3.
In between they will visit the
cities of Sendai, Aomori, Asahi
gowa on (he northern island of
Hokkaido, Akita, Niigatn, Gumma
and Japan's second city, Osaka.
John Dust in and DoLance Dun
can, wrestling coaches at Marsh
field (Coos Bay) and Klamath
Falls high schools respectively,
will accompany the wrestlers and
manage the tour.
Wrestlers will be selected at a
try-out camp June 16-18 on the
Oregon Slate University campus.

Bend-Portland took nine innings
to win Wednesday night as they
edged East Side Electric, 8-7, in
a thriller in the City Little
League Minor action.
Hansen singled in the bottom
of the ninth to score Bob Thomas
with the winning run. Rod Peter
son, who came on in the sixth,
pitched scoreless ball for three
innings to notch the victory. He
struck out seven of the nine men
he faced in the three frames.
Griswnld lashed a double for
the winners and Brostcrhous a
double for the losers. Bend-Port
land was outhit by East Side, 18-
15. and also had eight errors to
0 for the Electricians.
Steve Kemnitzer of Bend-Port
land led all hitters with four for
four.
East Side
The South Suburban Babe Ruth
League opened up Wednesday
night with Local Loan pounding
out an 18-7 decision over KC Paint
and Metier Brothers edged by
South Sixth Oxygen, 9-8.
Metier Brothers came up with
a run in the bottom of the seventh
to beat South Sixth Oxygen. The
final run was walked in when
two were out. Metier scored the
winning run after being walked
around by losing pitcher Hackler.
Meller's used three pitchers
wilh Lattin getting the win. The
l-four pitchers in the game suf
fered some wildncss and walked
a total of 23 players. Each club
managed six hits. Oxygen had
three errors to one for Metier.
Lattin stroked a double and sin
gle for the winners as the only
one with two hits or an extra
base blow. D'Olivio slammed a
double' and P. Hackler a triple
for the losers.
Jennings went all the way in lo Musgrove's six in Ihe first
pitching the Local Loan past KC inning. Neither team scored in
Paint in easy style. O'Brien and the second but A&W tallied six
Perry combined for the losers in the third to Musgroves two.

He had 19 hits in 44 times at

A&W ran up the biggest score
of the season by waxing the Mus-
grove nine, 24-8, in a 17-hit at
tack which was aided by eight
Musgrove errors.
Tim Allen and Bill Upshaw
combined to hurl the 11-hit vic
tory for the A&W team. Each
hurler worked three innings. The
A&W team racked up seven runs

pitcher John Rhoads for a single
run in the first inning. After one
was out Rich Bath reached sec
ond on an error by the left
fielder. Mac Cunningham singled
him home for the run.
They caved the roof in on Ash
land in the second frame with
four big runs. Tom Shiff led off
with a walk and Roger Bartlett
singled after Al Kenyon had
whiffed. Pitcher Tom Pilgrim
plated Shiff with a single and

their rise to the world cham
pionship. The other film is "Big
League Baseball." It is an In
structive film which shows
something on every position by
major league stars at each po
