City Parks, Recreation Facilities Readied For Extensive Summer Schedule

Falls Parks and Recreation De
partment, its summer schedule
and facilities. The first in the
series dealt with the summer
schedule of activities and the sec
ond story outlined the offerings
at the municipal pool.
Today's story will cover the
city parks and facilities. Included
will be a discussion on regional
parks, playgrounds, landscaped
,'arks, special recreation areas
and baseball fields.
There are 15 recreation facilities
or parks in Klamath Falls main
tained for the public's use by the
Parks and Recreation Depart
ment. In addition, the city owns
three sites which will eventually
be developed.
Moore Park, the biggest, covers
4.15 acres along Lakeshore Drive
and is considered a community
or regional park. The park con
tains play apparatus, restrooms, a
concession stand, wading pool,
horseshoe courts, Softball field,
sledding area, ice rink, archery
range, day camp area, view
points, picnic area, boat launch,
tennis court, gingerbread house
and zoo.
Other attractions at Moore Park
are three miles of paved interior
roads, hiking trails, nature area
and bird sanctuary.
The department also maintains
five neighborhood park play
grounds. Conger Park consists ofi
10.5 acres located adjacent to
Conger School at the corner of
Delta and Siskiyou streets.

ing and a large turfed play area.
rairview Park, 3.2 acres, is
located at the corner of YYordcn
and Addison streets and contains
2 rcstroum storage building, play
apparatus, ball field and turfed
play areas.

containing play apparatus, tennis!
courts, turfed play area, and ball
fields under construction.
The Kiwanis Park in the Mills
Addition comprises 2.5 acres at
the corner of Division Street and
Reclamation Avenue. Along with
the play apparatus, ball fields,
restroom and turfed play areas
common in most of the parks,
this park has a wading pool
and hard surfaced basketball
court.
The fifth neighborhood park is
4.8-acre Veterans Memorial Park
located at the corner of Main
and Center streets. It contains a
restroom-storagc building, outdoor
electric kitchen, picnic area, play
apparatus, and turfed play areas.
Five smaller landscaped parks
include Alameda at Esplanade, Moore Park Zoo, and Marina,
and Erie streets; Henderson, at! The 100 by 60-foot fan shaped

Located at the southerly point
of Upper Klamath Lake, the mari
na provides a launching point
within the city limits from which

sightseeing. A 24 by 56-foot dou
ble ramp provides easy access toj
the water and a proposed 300
feet of new docking, slated to be
installed by June 24, will provide!
a place to park and load boats.

Crest Street, Mills Little League
Park on Owens Street and Con
ger Field on Siskiyou. They are:
