BETROTHED Mr. and Mri. Stone Bow.n, Tulelakt,
announce the engagement of their daughter, Lorraine
(Oayle), to Robert G. Rinker, ton of Mr. and Mrs.
Maurice M. RInlcer, Olney, III. Their wedding will be Aug.
3 in Tuleleke. The bride-elect it a graduate of Chico
State College and it now teaching second grade at Anti
och. Her future husband it presently completing a year
of research in the laboratories of the Dow Chemical Com
pany. He is on leave of absence from Pasadena's Cali
fornia Institute of Technology where he is a professor of
chemical engineering. They plan to reside in Pasadena.

ter, Betty Jo, to Richard Barry Ford. Both young people
are graduates of Klamath Union High School. She net

ANNOUNCED The passing of the traditional candle
to her sorority sisters at the Alpha Phi house in Eugene
announced the engagement of Carol Sue Taylor to
Thomas Joseph Baiter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul B. Baker,
Alturas. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Taylor, are
well-known former Klamath Falls residents, now residing
in Alturas. The future bride, senior at the University of
Oregon, is a graduate of Klamath Union High School.
Her fiance is a graduate of Christian Brothers High
School, Sacramento, and is completing his senior year
at Sacramento State College. The popular couple told
their engagement and August wedding plant to their
families at a dinner during tpring vacation in Alturas.

Begins Fourth Year
The Great Books Foundation is
a non-profit organization whose
sole purpose lies in the encour
agement of people to read and to
meet together to discuss great
books. The local discussion group,
which has been sponsored by
the AAUW. has just completed

Salem Bride
In a recent double ring cere
mony in Westminster United Pres
byterian Church in Salem, Patri
cia Mae Buck became the bride
of Harold Edward Richter. The
Rev. John O. Najarian performed
the candlelight ceremony before
a background of azalea pink car
nations and deep red roses ar
ranged with greens.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Buck, Klam
ath Falls, and was escorted to
the altar and given in marriage
by her father. She wore a gown
of Chantilly-type lace and silk or
ganza styled with long sleeve, fit
ted bodice and round neckline
outlined with seed pearls and iri
descent sequins.
The floor length skirt with but
terfly bow at the back was de
signed with brush train edged
with a band of lace. A tiara of
seed pearls and crystals held in
place the elbow length French il
lusion veil. She carried a white
orchid on a white Bible.
Linda Buck, Klamath Falls, sis
ter of the bride, was maid oi
honor. Mrs. L. J. Saum, Seattle,
and Mrs. Paul Arnold. Klamath
Falls, were bridesmaids.
The attendants were dressed
alike in frocks of azalea pink silk
organza designed with fitted bod
ices and semi-full skirts accented
at back with fabric roses and
streamers to the hemlines. They
wore matching veiled hats and
carried one long stemmed deep
red rose.
Mrs. Wallace Johnson. Salem,
was organist, and Mrs. Bertil Sho
gren, Klamath falls, the soloist.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mrs. Frank Richter of Salem.
His best man was George Fow
ler of Salem. Ushers were Wayne
Buck, Eugene, and David Robins,
Salem.
For the occasion. Mrs. Buck
chose a beige dress with bone ac
cessories and Mrs. Richter. a
deep turquoise dress with black
and white accessories. Botn motn-
ers wore orchid corsages.
A rereDtion in the church par
lors followed the ceremony. Deco
rations again were azalea pink
carnations and red roses with
nosegays of garnet roses surround
ing the square tiered cake which
was served by Mrs. Wayne Buck,
assisted by Mrs. Robert Buck.
Mrs. A. R. Dickson poured cof
fee and Mrs. Vernon Robins
served punch.
The newlyweds traveled to San
Francisco and Carmel on their
honeymoon. For going-away the
bride changed to a powder blue
wool suit with bone accessories
and the bridal orchid as a cor
sage. .
Mrs., Richter is a graduate of
Henley' High School and Oregon
Technical Institute and is pres
ently employed as secretary for
the State Industrial Accident Com
mission in Salem. Her nusband.
graduate of North- Salem Hich
School, is draftsman in the Mari
on County assessor's office. They
will make their home at 1627
Broadway, N.E., Salem.
