Growers Association has been as
sured that steps are being taken
by the Fruils & Vegetable Divi
sion. U.S. Department of Agricul
ture, to comply with a request to
exlend the potato diversyw pro
gram until May 31. 19M. Conclu
sion date was previously set for
April .10
The telegram received Thurs
day from E. .1. Holcomb, act
ing chief of the Vegetable Branch,
was in answer to one sent April

requesting the extension of time.
The added period will provide
for; a more orderly disposal of
the lflfii crop of polatoes remain
ing in storage through fresh mar
ket, livestock feeding and starch
production channels.
The proposed extension will ben
efit all growers In the Klam
ath Basin who still nave potatoes
in storage.
Fire Mistake
Kire trucks from the Klamath
Falls central fire station and sub
station were dispatched to the
Juvenile Home. Alameda and
Kherlein avenues, about a:3S p.m..
Thursday, after it was reported
that the building was on fire,
according to fire department
lieadquarters.
Firemen went to the home and
le.irned that the report had been
erroneous. The person who re
tried the blaze had seen a fire
at the Old Fort Road dump which,
from a distance, appeared to be
hviiifd at the site of the Juvenile
Home, firemen said.
