ly called to Sand Stone, Minn.,
for the funeral of his father, Wil
liam Alters. Mr. Allers Is well-
known in this area as he has
visited his son and family here
several times.
MR. AND MRS. ROBERT VON-
ASEK and sons, Harry and
George, Orland, were recent
cuests of Mrs. Josephine Johns.
Miss Libby Sostak, and their
brother. Rudy.
MR. AND MRS. JOE 1IALOU
SEK were in Forest Grove re
cently, when their son, Neal, had
surgery on his foot. He had pre
viously cut the tendons of three
toes.

LERS and (amily have moved to
then- new home in Maim. Mrs.
Louis Steyskal and family have
moved to the old Allers home
which they recently purchased.

to attend a summer workshop
in secondary school administra
tion, July 15-20, at the Univer
sity of Oregon.
Tho workshop will be jointly
sponsored by the Oregon Associa
lion of Secondary School Princi
pals, the Oregon State Depart
ment of Education, and the Uni
versity of Oregon.
Problems and topics of the
workshop will include evaluation
of teachers, procedures in open
ing and closing the school year,
tho dropout and polential drop-
out, techniques for making the
master schedule, evaluating stu
dent achievement in "ability
group" classes, and recent de
velopments in one or more sub
ject areas.
Salary is derived from the Latin
word "salarium" which is what
ancient Rome's soldiers called the
salt they received as part of their
pay.
