relatives and friends, Chaplain
and Mrs. William. A. Thoreson
and son arrived in Klamath Falls,
on March 11 to make their home
at 812 Wcslbrook Drive.
Chaplain Thoreson. who holds
the rank of captain, has been as
signed as chaplain for Kingsley
Field, replacing Chaplain Jeffer
son E. Davis Jr. The Davis fam
ily was scheduled to leave April
5 for a new Air Force assignment
in Crete.

Mrs. Heglund will be in charge of

Holy Yeek With Special Services
Special services and choral pro
grams have been planned by sev
oral Klamath Basin churches to
observe Palm Sunday, April 7
Maundy Thursday, April II, and
Good Friday, April 12.
Palm Sunday, the Sunday pre-
eding Easter, commemorates in
Christian churches the entry of
Christ into Jerusalem when peo
ple strewed palm branches be
fore Him. The Thursday of Pas
sion Week, Maundy Thursday, is
sacred as commemorating the act
ol Christ in washing His Apostles'
feet on the occasion of the last
upper. Good Friday, the last Fri
day in Lent, is observed in com
memoration of the crucifixion of
Christ.
ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH

al service of meditation on the
suffering and death of Christ, will

As Old Testament prophecies
and their fulfillment in the pas
sion of Christ are read, candles
will be extinguished to symbolize
the darkness of spirit and intense
sufferings of Christ. Hymns ap
propriate to the readings will be
sung, and as the service ends,
the church will be in complete
darkness and meditation.

Bert Allbritton and Ormel Chapin,
are natives of Klamath Falls.
Bert is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Monroe Allbritton, and Ormel is

Miss Halstenrud was born
North Dakota of pioneer Norwe
gian parents. Following high
school, she worked for a lawyer
for several years and then en
tered Mounds-Midway School of
Nursing in St. Paul, Minn., where
she worked for a year after grad
uation before taking post grad
uate work in clinical manage
ment and dispensary work at Cook
County Hospital, Chicago.
She later studied at Bethel Col-
lege in St. Paul and the North
Churchmen

The training institute, sponsored
by the Southwest Presbyterial, is
one of three to be conducted in
various areas of the Presbyterial

noon, it will be open to anyone
interested in church school work.
To begin the program, the host
church will have a half-hour cof
fee at 9 a.m., followed by the ori
entation from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m.

Group To Hold
Rummage Sale
The Women's Association of the
First Presbyterian Church will
hold a rummage sale Wednesday
and Thursday, April 10-11, at
Clyde's Tow ing, 734 Klamath Ave.

said the sale will be conducted
from 8: 15 to 6 p.m. both days.
