POLLY'S POINTERS
In Time For Spring
POLLY CRAMER
Newipoper Enterprise Astn.
DEAR POLLY-I use a small
plastic squeeze bottle that held
catsup or mustard for planting
tiny seeds such as sweet alyssum
or petunias. One light squeeze
puffs seeds Into a shallow inden
tation made with a trowel. A
clothes sprinkler head on a bot
tle full of water moistens thorn
just enough.
I always plant bright red flow
ers near doorways and around the
patio. There never seems to be
any fuss with stray bees. Per
haps they cannot see red and arc
not attracted to flowers of this
color.
MRS. L.B.L. JR.
DEAR POLLY-I enjoy collect
lng old coins. To clean them my
son rubs them with a pencil eras
er. Now I have old coins that
shine like new.
MRS. W.M.K.
DEAR POLLY I recently wor
ried over what to give a friend
as a golng-away present. I decided
to 6ive her $2.50 in postage
stamps tucked inside a pretty
card. People on trips often can
buy cards, find time to write but
bave no idea whore to get stamps.
MRS. C.F.R.
DEAR POIiY-Take a tape
measure and sew It. upside down,
across tlie hem of jour sewing
apron. It is handy to measure a
seam, a dress hem or many
tiling while you are still silting
at the sewing machine.
MRS. A.L.
DEAR POLLY When preparing
your bath water, sprinkle a little
talcum powder In the water. This
seems to make the water softer
and helps to keep a ring from
forming around the sides of the
tub. It also gives off a pleasant
scent.
MRS. M.O.
DEAR POLLY Do you ever got
"butterflies" when an elevator
drops or lifts rapidly? If so,
try standing on tiptoes. U pos
sible, brace yourself against the
elevator. The main tiling is to
get off your heels.
GLADYS
GIK1.S This is certainly worth
a try.
