ACTOR CONFIRMS MARRIAGE
HOLLYWOOD (UPI) - Actor
James Craig confirmed Monday
that he and former model Jane
Valentine were married Saturday
in a private ceremony at Santa
Barbara, Calif.
, Craig, 51, was married twice to
his first wife, Mary, and also to
: Jill Jarmyn. Miss Valentine was
J wed once before.
Crash Kills
Four Youths
BERLIN, N.J. 'UPI i - Four
teen-agers were killed and six olh
er persons injured Monday night
when their convertible crashed
through a guardrail and fell in a
tangle of high-tensinn wires onto
railroad tracks.
The victims, three girls and a
boy, were dead on arrival at
Cooper and Cherry Hill hospitals.
They were identified as Dorothy
Fitzpatrick. 15; Judith Ann Svi
ben, 13: Ellen Marrcn, 15, and
Rolwrt F. Shelley, 15, all of Cam
den.
Police said they could not ap
proach the wrecked car for more
than 30 minutes while waiting for
the power in the lines to be turned
off. They said the auto with its
10 occupants, plunged about 25
feet from the Jackson Road over
pass onto the Pennsylvania-
Reading Seashore Lines tracks.
The driver of the car, William
Hummel, 21, Camden, was admit
ted to Our Lady of Lourdes Hos
pital there in serious condition.

meeting and gave a resume of
achievements of the chamber
during 12. He reported it host
ed several conventions in the
area; promoted recreational and
industrial projects; assisted Duns
muir in the airport project and
dedication of Highway 99, south of
IJtinsmuir; and sponsored the July
4 fireworks. St. Patrick's Day
parade, and 4-H booth at the Sis
kiyou County Fair.
The chamber also bought and
distributed 1.000 advertising decals.

ciated Chambers of Commerce to
distribute 50.0110 brochures on the
area: sponsored an open house at
the Ski Bowl; dedicated the Mc-
Cloud-Mount Shasta Highway and
opened a tourist information
booth, among other projects.
Otis reported his program for
the coming year and said Mount
Shasta would host the airport
commissioners convention in June
and the Christmas Tree Growers
Association convention in the late
summer.

ALTURAS At the monthly
meeting of the Modoc Cham
ber of Commerce March 6 in Al-
turas, Jim Payne announced the
results of a recent hearing before
the California Highway Commis
sion.
He said official action is expect
ed on the chamber's request to
have the Highway 299 number
extended to the Nevada line; to
have the commission reaffirm
their stand of endorsing the Win
nemucca-to-tlie-Sea Highway and
negotiate for its completion; and
to accelerate the highway con
.(ruction program in Modoc Coun
ty in (he next two years.
Bill Diekrneger, general man
ager of the Model Quarter Horse
Association, reported on the or
ganization's plans for the future.
Construction of the new show are
na, grandstands, fencing, and the
Horse Motel is progressing as
apidly as manpower and weather
conditions will permit, he said.
In other business, the joint ef
fort of the chamber and the
MQIIA for a large July 4 celebra
tion was reported by the busi
ness committee chairman, Phil
Woodward. The committee has the
tentative plans almost completed
and the schedule will be published
in the near future. He said nu
merous civic and service groups
in the county will be contacted for
assistance and that plans should
be made now for floats to be
entered in the parade at 10:30
a.m. July 4.
Corny Carstens, chairman of the
Fish and Game Committee, re-
ported (hat many of the contro
versial aspects of fish and game
are under study, but the commit
tee's recommendations will be
withheld until completion of the
field tour by Congresswoman Pau
line Davis and her committee.
The -'ext meeting of the cham-
her will be held at the Modoe Ho
tel on April 3.

DORRIS Evcrell Irvin Casey.
Casey, 43, Cowlitz. Wash., and
Cave Junction, Ore., appeared in
the Dorris Justice Court Tuesday
lo answer to charges brought byi
Siskiyou County Sheriff's deputies
of driving while under the influ
ence of alchol.
Judge Les Chase found Casey
had a previous conviction for the
same offense and sentenced him
to 10 days in the county jail
lined him $44(1; and suspended
his driver's license for one year.
Edward William Farnngton, 37,
Eugene. Ore., a passenger in the
Casey car, was.charged with being
intoxicated m a vehicle and throw
ing a bottle on the highway. Judge
Chase fined Karrington $81.50 or

Both men were committed lo
the Siskiyou County Jail in lieu of

feited $220 bail when he. failed to
appear before Judge Le Chase
March 11 to enter his plea.
Stolsenberg had been arrested
on March 4 by the California
Highway Patrol and taken into
court on a charge of hit-run
involving a dog. He posted $220
bail and requested time to con
sult an atlorney. Judge Chase or
dered him lo appear in court

attend Boys' State and Vicki Bal
dini to attend Girls' State this
summer. Both are members of
the junior class.
The son of Dr. and Mrs. Dar-
rell Johnsen, Steve is vice presi
dent of the Hi-Teens Club and
active on the baseball and track
teams. The American Legion Craft
Post of Mount Shasta will spon
sor him at the Boys' Stale ac
tivities to be held at the Sacra
mento Fairgrounds in June. Jim
Worthington is the alternate can

who have defaulted on housing
loans. The bill would permit the
VA to waive the claims when the
default "arose out of compelling
reasons without fault on the part
of (lie veteran or (hat collections
of the indebtedness would other-
wie work a severe hardship upon
the veteran."
