Shift Backed
- SALEM (UPI) - A proposal to
: shift to the public some of the
cost of fighting firea in forests
and on grazing land drew strong
support Tuesday from the Ore
gon Forest Protective Association
and the Oregon Farm Bureau.
- Association spokesman Jim Cor
lclt said passage of the bill would
be "an historic moment." A bu.
rcau spokesman said firefighting
costs have become "crippling" for
' ranchers, who rarely start fires
' themselves. Main causes are light-
