ity of the Owls. They are not
classified as a four-year school
yet and can't take part in post
season tournaments.
This, despite being a heart'
breaking thing for the coach, play
ers and school, hasn't damp
ened the Owls' enthusiasm to win
any. They had the OCC title all
wrapped up Tuesday night when
they went to Ashland but proceed
ed to trounce the Red Raiders fcr
the 12th straight time, 111-93. It
was the third time in a row
the Owls had gone over tlie cen
tury mark, also.
The Owls will be taking on the
"mighty midgets" of OCE in their
last two games of the season. The
Owls will be looking for their
19th and 20th victories of the year
as against six losses, fliey lost
only one conference game and
that in an overtime to Portland
State.
The game won't be an easy one
against tlie Wolves, a hot-shooting
unit and especially so on thei
home court. The Owls could drop
one of tlie two there but they w ill
be shooting for the best season
possible. They had a 20-6 seasjn
last year and could match that
this season.
Coach Jim Partlow will have
his usual "Iron-Man Five" as the
starting unit. And Uus five is as
good as any in this region. Ihc
five starters will be Sam Smiili,
Willie Anderson, Hewlett Nasii,
Norm Johns and Van Zitek. Ot'i-
s who could see action if some
of the Owls foul out or get far
enough ahead are Wayne Deiiii.s,
Ron Wilkerson, Dick Johnson,
Chuck Nagley and Chuck Hawkins.
Smith can break his own league
scoring record with two good
games. He is 38 points shy of his
last veal's record of 321 points
He has 283 through 14 games to
lead the league. Anderson fell
down to fourth spot but that didn I

They are lingering in fourth place

having a hard time in tlie begin

of their games.
Coach Al Keck wasn't set on
his starling lineup for Saturday's

one thing. For the first time this

Quite a few things have happened to Dndgo trucks smct Mrs. Stevens
bought her first, among them is a new policy of running improvements
that has made Dodge trucks more than SO ways better in the past year
alone. Another is a new series ot conventional and cab forward medium
tonnage diesel models, specifically built for substantial savings in city
service. But one thing that hasnt changed is price. Dodge, America t
only Job Rated truck, is priced lower than most of the competition,
right in lint with the rest. Your nearby Oodgi dealer has thi proof.
linson and Paul Bransom. Pat
Penper is the lifth starter. GUnes,
Alvarez and Tomlinson are in the
top five of league scoring.
The Pelicans have three more
games remaining on the schedule
after the Saturday contest and
two of them are at home. They
meet Ashland and Medford at
home and Grants Pass on the
Road. None will be easy.
In order for the Pelicans to
reach the playdlfs. they must win
every game. One loss will knock
them right out of the picture.
And the Pelicans haven't missed
being in a state tournament in 14
years i unofficial1.
The Saturday game is the only
one scheduled tins week for the
Pels. They play Ashland at home
next Friday and go to Grants
Pass Saturday night.
