in the area and, when they found

The 10-year-old girl told officers
- that she had spent $442, but had
$358 left.

Schacht, and a caravan of near
ly 2,000 Pittsburgh hikers were
among the tramping thousands
Sunday.
Disk jockies, newsmen, more
Marines, doctors and legions of
students also trudged about the
countryside.
Two high school track stars
from Sacramento, Calif., walked
and ran 50.4 miles in 8 hours 27
minutes, the fastest 'time report
ed over the weekend.

The Klamath Union High School
Choir, under the direction of M.
Dale Hallack, will present its an
nual spring concert at Mills Audi
torium Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 8
p.m.
The concert Is open to the gen
eral public and the admission is
50 cents per person. Assisting the
choir will be the Madrigal Sing
ers and the string orchestra.
One of the highlights of the
evening s program will be franz
Schubert's "Mass in G. This
number will be accompanied by,
the string orchestra. Kathy Clul
cote, -soprano, Dennis Montague,
baritone, and Rae Ann Davis, so
prano, will be featured as soloists
with the number. This great piece
of choral literature was com
posed by Franz Schubert at the
age of 18. He -died at the early
age of 31 with over 700 pub
lished works to his credit. This
number was featured by the
meeting of tlie Music Educators
National Association held in Spo
kane, March 15-18, lftti2.
This year's clioir of 89 voices,
has presented "The Messiah" as
well as its own Christmas program
during tiie holiday season. It has
also appeared before the Rotary,
Kiwanis and Lions clubs of Klam
ath Falls.

Mitchell's widow was in a hos

German student tradition once,
outlawed by the Western allies as
extremist nationalism, was the
main Issue Wednesday in a vole at
West Berlin's Free University.
The university's 14.900 students
opened three days of balloting to
confirm or reject law student Eb-
erhard Diepgen. 21. as .president
of the Student Council.
Diepgen Is a memlier of a stu
dent dueling corps. Ho was elect
jed Student Council president Jan.
30 by a 73-member student parliament.
Tlie parliament's presidium, ob
jecting to Diepgen's dueling ac
tivities, denounced the election as
"incompatible with the universi
ty's traditions" and arranged for
voting by the full student body.
The emotionally charged issue
has aroused almost as much in
terest In the city as tlie West Ber
lin Municipal Assembly campaign
that ends Sunday.
