polls Motor Speedway driver, will
speak to the Oregon Tech student
body at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday,
Nov. 2.
Turner is one of a team o! sev
en Indianapolis race drivers who
have presented the award-winning
Champion Highway Safety Pro
gram to more than three million
teen-agera in Uie last five years.
His subject will be, "Highway
Safety Is No Accident."
The Indianapolis race driver
compares driving on the big
speedway with everyday opera
tions on our highways and insists
if every motorist would be as
courteous and as alert as the
race driver and keep his car in'
I as good condition there would not
be the heavy traffic fatality toll
being experienced today.
A sound and color movie made
al the Indianapolis Speedway es-'
penally for use of the highway'
safety team will be shown. 1
The assembly program will be
sponsored by the Auto Mechanics'

Our first meeting of the year'
was held on Oct. 12 at the home of .
Mrs. Harold Campbell.
There was no old business so.
we got started otl with new
business which was the election of
officers. They are as follows: '
Nyna Payne, president; Scott-
Skinner, vice president; Debra,
Kennedy, secretary; and Mary
Dracc, news reporter.
For planning the calendar we
decided to have a fund raising
project instead of paying month
ly dues. This will be a baked food
sale sometime before Thanksgiv--ing.
We have not set a date as of '
yet.
There were many ideas tor
tours and these will be looked into '
further and dates will be set. .
We received our record books
and our order w as put in for some
other interesting pamphlets.
At out next meeting it was de
cided upon that Judy Preim will
give a demonstration on cake dec
orating. We are all looking for
ward to this very much.
Mrs. Payne was our only guest
at this meeting. The meeting was
adjourned and refreshments were
served.
