.Dear Ann Landers: You make
me sick. That letter from "Doc's
Old Doll" who was married to a
man younger than herself was
just darling. And then you came
along with that crummy answer
and spoiled everything.
I happen to know of several
cases where the woman is older
and the marriages are wonderful,
Your statement that "some wom
en at 40 look like SO and their
young husbands are running like
60 was downrignt mean. Are you
implying the men don't age
I attended a 23-year high school
reunion in June and I recognized
every woman there. But the men
had changed so much I had a
hard time figuring out who was
who. Women may put on a little
weight, but at least they don't:
get bald. These men are all in
their early 40's and I was shocked
at the billiard-ball heads.
And by the way, Buttercup
how old Is that picture of you
at the top of your column?
FORMER FAN .
Dear Former: I made It
abundantly clear in my letter to
Doc's Old Doll that I, too, knew
of some exceptions and that she
and Doc certainly sounded con
tent. As a rule, however, I don't
recommend marriage between a
man and an older woman. .
As for me, I don't know which
picture you're looking at because
the ' newspapers change them
around, but no picture is more
than two years old. And Inci
dentally, I'm 43, Petunia. .Any
more questions?
Dear Ann. My husband oper

I'm excellent at detailed book

times to set up an efficient sys
tem for him. I even bought ledger
cards, but he insists on doing
things his own way.
"His own way" is half-baked
and' it takes forever. His account
ant has told him his methods are
sloppy and that he ought to let
me help him. But the man is
plain stubborn. How can I get him
to change his mind? W.B.S.
Dear W.B.S.: You can't, so
give up. You and your husband j
sound plenty competitive and 1
suspect he'd prefer to stumble
around forever rather than al
low you to show him how to do
something. Ask his accountant to
help him set up an efficient sys
tem. And stay out of the act your-

AM, Happy Camel Carf Driver, Visits Harry
KANSAS CITY; Mo. (AP)-
Bashir Ahmad, the Pakistani
camel cart driver with the inj
fectious grin, stopped In mid-
America today to see a prize
steer and visit with former presi
dent Harry S. Truman.
Bashir is on a tour which grew
out of chance encounter with Lyn
don B. Johnson when the vice
president visited Karchi. in May.
Johnson singled him out of a
crowd, shook hands and invited
him to visit the United States.
Today's schedule begins at the
American Royal Livestock Show
for the auction of its grand cham
pion steer.
Maybe II, a big and blocky
1,000-pound Angus owned by
Judy Vining, J7, of Osage, Iowa,
won the honor Tuesday.
Bashir's schedule also includes
a visit to the Liberty Memorial,
receiving an honorary Kansas
City citizenship, and the trip to
the Truman Memorial Library in
nearby Independence to see the
former president.
Bashir arrived in Kansas City
by jet tourist flight Tuesday night
after a busy day in Texas.
"I am so tired I can hardly
keep my eyes open." he said
through an interpreter. "My face
is full of fatigue." ,
He flashed his big grin. It is
a production. The ends of his long
mustache turn up. He shows his
teeth. He looks straight into your
eyes, and his face is all warmth.
They told me when the camel
cart driver got on the jet Comet
he would have a heart attack."
he said. "So I told them: 'I am
going to see my friend Johnson.
If I have a heart attack, then
let it go down in history that this
man had a heart attack while
going to see his friend.' "
Before he left home, Bashir
said he wanted to meet ordinary
people in this country, not just
big shots.
"I can not differentiate between
them." he said Tuesday night.
"Their love and affection toward
me has been the same."
In Dallas Tuesday Bashir re
ceived a new pickup truck.
"With this I can do in one hour
what it took one day to do with
a camel," he said.
But he will not sell the camel.
"It was through the camel that
I met Vice President Lyndon
Johnson," said Bashir. "I will not
sell him. He will stay with me
always."
Bashir and his entourage the
interpreter, a State Department
escort and a member of Johnson's
slaff will fly to Baltimore this
evening. Bashir will start seeing
Washington inursday morning.
