Disease Rate
Shows Increase
PORTLAND (AP) Sixty-one
new cases of infectious hepatitis
were reported in Oregon for the
week ending Feb. 28.
That is three times the num
ber of cases reported for the
same week last year, said Dr.
Richard H. Wilcox, state health
officer.
He said that in the first four
weeks of the year, the number of
cases was up 100 per cent com
pared with 1960.
The disease, which affects the
liver, brings on symptoms of
fatigue, headache, fever, lack of .
appetite, nausea and yellowing of
the skin.
