asked to wiile the Interstate Com
merce Commission notifying it of
Dunsmuir's endorsement.
"Southern Pacific is Dunsmuir's
lifeline." Dave Anderson council
man, said in proposing the council
take a stand.
Wins Contract
McCLOUD Louie Hayes of
Adin was awarded a contract to
clear 150 acres of the Lava Burn
for plantation preparation. He
starts work on the 'clearing job
this week, United States forest
Service officials said.
Hayes' lew bid of $26.95 per
acre was accepted.
Contracts are soon to be let for
planting 460 acres of seedling
pines in the burned area.

demand" feeding. This means
that the child be fed whenever he
is hungry. It doesn't imply that
the baby be made to go through
a protracted period of crying in
order to have his hunger satisfied.

A. No. The weak point between
the abdomen and thigh consists
of overlapping layers of fibrous
tissue not muscle and fibrous
tissue doesn't respond to exercise

be corrected surgically.

The other two candidates will

The new queen will be present
ed with a wrist watch, the runner
up with a $25 check and the third
candidate . will receive several
cases of Coca Cola.
Costumes worn by the girls for
Iheir first public appearance,
while not authentic dress of the
Klamath Tribe, were beautiful and
ornate.
The single feather worn In the
headband denotes a maiden. Two
are worn by married women.
Michele McNoise, a high school
senior at Sacred Heart Academy,
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Haines McNoise of the Merrill
Highway. Her ancestry is half
Klamath and half Ponca. She was
a princess in her freshman year.
For her first encounter with the
cameraman. Wes Gudcrian, Mich
ele wore fringed white buckskin,
beaded by Cora Porter, lormcr
resident of Fort Klamath, decked
with shells, bells and dyed porcu
pine quills. Her beaded mocca
sins are from the Cheyenncs, her
headband the Ponca tribe and her
silver belt and other Indian sym
bols are from Arizona. Michele
is a dancer. An aunt in Okla
homa is making a "squaw dress"
for her niece, lo be worn during
the festivities.
Helen Davis, daughter of Mr.

monev-raisina program to be
staged Thursday, March 9, at 7:3C
p.m. in the school gym. The pro
ceeds will help purchase lights
for the football field.
The entertainment will be pro-.
vided by the six classes in the
school. Juniors will entertain first,
followed by the seventh grade,
then the senior class.
Refreshments will be for sale1
during a brief intermission. Then
the freshmen will present a de
tective story titled "Naked Town,"
starring Mike Peacock as Lt. Par
ker, John Riggs. as Flinch and
Dick Johnson as Mascara. Their
advisers are Harlan Heydon and
David Dougherty. Student director
is Mike Peacock. They will alsol
have more entertainment if time
allows.
The sophomore class will pro
vide a humorous variety show
based on typical scenes on tele
vision. Sophomore advisers are
Len Weber and Tom Peterson.
Student Committee chairmen arc

Beymer and Bev Longhofer.
Next in line will be the eighth
grade. This class will entertain
with a debate featuring Jerry
Finchum as Nikita Khrushchev
and Bill Fisher as President John

The seniors will present a musi
cal program featuring many of
their talented students. Ray
Brown and Kathy Wilcox will do
a dance. Chuck Blofsky will sing
and the remainder of the show is
to be kept as a surprise.

grades, including the participants.
The winning class will be dis

lunch. They will have special ta
bles, a special dessert and they
will be presented with a plaque
with the class year engraved on

by the applause meter during the
program. Each class will be al
lowed 20 minutes. All proceeds
will go to the football lights fund.
New Disaster
Car Purchased
LAKEVIEW A new disaster car
will bo purchased for the Lake-
view aiea and be used in addi
tion to the one in present use
according to a decision made at
a meeting of the Lake County
Disaster Unit last week. Dclmar
McGrath is president of the
group.
Money has been accumulated
through donations of past years to
meet a cost price offered by the
Collins Chevrolet Company on a
1961 Chevrolet carryall. There
will be a fund drive later to equip
it with stretcher, radio and other
items.
The present car will be kept
and equipped for special disaster
and emergency use. It has already
been in use for the past 11 veal's.
A need for two cars has arisen
several times within recenti
months.

PORTLAND (AP)-Col. Sterling
Eisiminger, 43, has been named;
Portland District engineer for the
Army Corps of Engineers, and
will take over his new job in July.
Eisiminger now is attending the
Industrial College of the Armed
Forces in Washington, D. C. He
will succeed Col. Walter L. Wine
gar, who wiil receive an assign
ment overseas.
