at eight o'clock in the Willurd Ho
tel. Sweet Adelines, Inc. is a group
of women barbershop harmony
singers that is independent from
SPEBSQSA, national men's bar
bershop organization. The lady
songbirds were incorporated in
1945 at Tulsa, Okla., by nine
women. Their unique idea spread
nationwide and at the present
time there are 14 regions in the
United States and Canada with a
membership of 8,000.
Klamath Falls Crater Lake
Chapter received its charter in
November, J047, and was the 15th
chapter to join Region 13. This
region has 24 chapters in Wash
ington, Oregon. Montana and the
Canadian provinces of Saskatche
wan, British Columbia and Alber
ta. Region 13 has doubled in iz.
since originated in 1954 with six
prospective chapters to be organ
ized.
The' primary function of Sweet
Adelines is to teach and train
women of all ages in the sing'
ing of a barbershop style, four-part
harmony. It is non-profit and
is neither an auxiliary of nor as
sociated with any other organiza
tion. Its national theme and song
is "Harmonize the World." Its
code of ethics reads: "Organiza
tion of women to seek recreation
and relaxation by uniting to enjoy
harmony in singing the old songs
barbershop style."
Sweet Adelines throughout the
nation continue to sing for civic
events, charitable organizations
and for sheer personal enjoymcni.

In today's mail is n letter from
a reader who feels guilty becausel
she has been less than frank with!
her husband in money matters.
For years, she says, she has
had secret charge accounts which
have nearly driven her crazy. She
has to stretch her houshold al
lowance to pay a little on this
account and a little on that one.
This has come about, she says,
because she dreaded the long
discussions that always followed

It isn't that they are married
to skinflints, either. Most of them
aren't. Then why do they feel they
have to do all that financial fi
nagling?
One reason is probably that
they think a man wouldn't under
stand the necessity for some of
the things they buy. What looks
perfectly all right to a man
often looks out-of-date or abso
lutely hopeless to a woman. An
other woman would understand
perfectly but would a man?
The other reason is that the
clothes, furniture, and knick-
knacks a woman's heart yearns
for arc often so expensive that
her common sense tells her they
are more than she can afford.
She expects her husband to be
bowled over by the price, because!
she herself thinks it is unreason
able. But still she wenls what
she wants and so she begins to
figure how he might manage to
finance it,, without coming right
out and asking for the money.
Perhaps, the best way for wives
to avoid the temptation to be less
than frank about money matters
is to take their husbands with

Pauline Hcrlihy was maid of
honor and bridesmaids were Ettie

Mrs. Quinn chose a dress of green
print. Her corsage was. also of
red roses.

flower girl.
Bonnie Rodriguez acted as best
man. Ushers were the bride's
brothers, Victor and George Flor
ez. A reception in the parish hall
followed the ceremony. Assisting
were Mrs. UicK Barker. Kay
Shoop and Mrs. Ester Hodges.
The newlyweds left immediately
for a honeymoon to California.
Mrs. Quinn wore for traveling a
white wool sheath with multi-col
ored jacket and white acces
sories. The orchid from her bridal
bouquet was pinned at her shoul
der. She is a graduate of Sacred
Heart Academy and her husband
from Klamath Union High School.
They will reside at 429 North
