Carlos Norberto Soberdo of
Buenos Aires, Argentina, was en
rolled for the spring semester
in electronics technology curricu
lum at Oregon Technical Institute
recently. His wife, Bettina, is reg
istered in secretarial technology
curriculum.
"We sent for a number of cat
alogues from colleges in the U.S.
and from them chose OTI, Mrs
Soberdo stated.
Soberdo spent five years in high
school, a year in a military school
and three years in the University
of Dentistry in Buenos Aires be
fore coming to OTI
Electronics is a new science
in my country," he said. "After
graduation, I expect to go back
to promote work in the field."
His mother in Buenos Aires has
a dress shop. She imports ex-
elusive apparel from Paris. Mrs
Soberdo's father is in the vicuna
business. Vicuna is an animal
found only in South America. Its
pelt fibers make a most expen
sive wool used in clothing manu-
facture.
He imports the fiber from Boli
via and exports it to other nations.
Soberdo makes this prediction:
"In 10 years, Argentina will not
be the best country, but it will
be a good country. He speaks of

Study Is Asked
SALEM (AP) An Interim
committee to study custody and
care of sex offenders would be
created by a resolution introduced
Tuesday by Rep. William J. Gal
lagher, R-Portland.
Gallagher said the committee
of 10 members would see what
other states are doing to treat
persons convicted of sex offenses.
"It doesn't do any good just to
let them sit in cells and rot," he
said.
The committee would give spe
cial consideration to setting up
rehabilitation camps for them.

The total time the heart was

utes. The chest incision was closed
with the. patient remaining in
his bed and a quick check re
vealed that he appeared to be
doing very well. After the tube
was removed from his windpipe
Colonel Barnes was asked how he
felt and he replied, "Pooped."
After intensive treatment and!
nursing care he. became free
of symptoms within a few days
and slowly regained his strength
over the next six weeks. On Jan.
10 he was sent home to continue
his recovery.
Murder Case
Is Delayed

three of her young daughters and
their governess was postponed
Tuesday until Friday.
Mrs. Joseph L. Garrett w a s
freed last week on a directed ver
dict of acquittal on the first mur
der charge involving the death of
her daughter, Gaye, S months.
Another indictment, returned
the day afterward, accuses her in
the death of another daughter,
Angela, 3.
Her attorneys have moved that
the indictment be dismissed on
grounds that it constitutes double
jeopardy.- A judge told the de
fense that this argument could be
presented at the arraignment.
Mrs. Garrett is a former Dallas,
Tex., socialite.

Station here, where he had been
stationed.
Budde disappeared the weekend
that Beverly Ann Allan, 19. Port
Townsend, Wash., and her boy
friend, Larry Ralph Peyton, 10.
Portland, were killed. Peyton's
body was found near Portland,
Miss Allan's 40 miles west of
Portland.
There was nothing to connect
Budde with the crime, but the
coincidence of his disappearance
led police to seek him
His division commanding offi
cer was the last person known to
have seen Budde. He gave Budde
a ride to a point about 10 miles
east of the naval station. Budde
told him he was going to join
friends in hunting ducks.
The body was found on a side
road near that point. , '
