If somebody asks you for a
cigarette or if you want a cup
of coffee and you look up for
five seconds well, a jet liner can
go a mile in those five seconds
Once the planes get close
enough to the airfield, their blips
get moved to the close radar
screen,
You can lose a blip for several
seconds. Or you can find one
that you didn't expect another
couple of seconds of distraction.
"You think that kind of a job
isn't enough to tense you up?
I put enough time in those
radar rooms to know I dont
want to fly again.
But. of course, I do tly. o-i
just cross your fingers and tell
yourself you don't remember."

Postage Stamp Day in Austria
is usually honored by the issu
ance of a new stamp. The I960
event received special attention
by means of a stamp of unusual
design. The three schilling plus 7C
groschen is brown red in color.
It depicts the die proof of a
1999 Austrian stamp (Hunting Se
ries showing a stag) as seen
through a magnifying glass. The
hands of a stamp collector hold
these items in familiar pose. This
is probably the first time a die
proof has appeared on a stamp.

Indonesia reports it has issued
four new stamps commemorating
World Health Day. All are of the
same design showing an anopheles
mosquito and the words "Hari
Kesehatan Sedunia 1960" (World
Health Day I960) and "Basmilah
Malaria" (Destroy Malaria).
The Philippines Bureau of Posts
reports that a stamp honoring
the late President Manuel L. Que
zon has been issued. The new
stamp depicts his portrait. The
one centavos is olive green.

MINNEAPOLIS (UPI When
Mrs. Average Shopper announces
she's making a "quick trip to the
grocery store the chances are
she will Slav there at least 23
minutes.
During those minutes she will
buy 13 items at a cost of 56 cents
for each item.
These shopper statistics come
from Mrs. Eleanor Loomis, exten
sion consumer marketing agent at
the University of Minnesota. Hjt
findings arc based on a study ol
3,200 food slwppers.
The study showed that only
about 30 women of each 100 came
to the store equipped with a shop
ping list. They bought four more
items than the women who came
without a list, spent about four to
six cents per minute of shopping
and spent more tune doing their
marketing.
Consumers who use a list are
likelv to shop once or twice n
week,- whereas those who don't
use a list buy fewer items at a
time but shop more frequently.
