State Fair
Does Well
SALEM (AP) The Oregon
State Fair Commission reported
Tuesday that 1960 was a record
money-making year for the fair
with final audits showing a $107,'
432 profit.
Last year a $66,000 profit was
turned.
The commission put the 1961
State Fair into motion during an
all-day meeting that saw several
major appointments and contracts
approved.
These included Mrs. C. N. Run
dell, Portland, art director; West
Coast Shows carnival contract,
Christenson Brothers, Eugene,
nine-day rodeo; Al Lightner, Sa
lem racing director; Melvin Gcist,
music dean at Willamette Uni
versity, in charge of an Oregon
talent troupe to present free
shows.

ty court room of the courthouse

Hearings Held
LAKEVIEW Preliminary hear
ings were held in justice court
Friday and Saturday for R. V,
Randolph, 25, charged with con
tributing' to the delinquency of a
minor.
He was bound over to the coun
ty grand jury. He Is being held
in the county jail in lieu of $1,000
bond.
Randolph and Larry Ray Wells,
11, were both arrested early last
week. Wells is being held for the
grand jury on a statutory rape
charge in lieu of $2,000 bail.
Hubert LeBeau
Ends Training
Marine Pvt. Hubert G. LeBeau,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward A,
LeBeau, 1411 Nimitz Street, com
pleted recruit training Nov. 17 at
the Marine Corps Recruit Depot,
San Diego.
The 11-wcck course Included in
struction in all basic military sub'
Jects and infantry weapons.
Upon completion of training new
Marines are assigned to a unit
for further Infantry training, or to
one of the many Marine Corps
schools.

Hospitalized

as A. Dooley, folounder of Mod
Ico, which operates hospitals in
remote areas of Laos and other
Southeast Asian nations, today
entered St. Theresa's Hospital
here with what hospital records
listed as "sheer exhaustion."
Dooley said by telephone from
his hospital room that his hos
pitalization was not directly at
tributable to lung cancer, for
which he underwent surgery in
1959.
