I package Baker's German's
sweet Chocolate
V4 cup boiling water
I cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
4 egg yolks, unbeaten
I teaspoon vanilla
Vl cups sifted Swans Down
Cake Flour
I teaspoon soda
2 teaspoon salt
I cup buttermilk
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Melt chocolate in W cup of boiling
water. Cool. Cream butler and sugar

I cup evaporated milk
I cup sugar
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten

I cup chopped pecans
Combine milk, sugar, egg yolks, but
ter or margarine, and vanilla in a
suuecpan. Cook over medium heal,
stirring constantly uniil mixture thick
ens, about 1 2 minutes. Remove from
heat. Add coconut and pecans. Beat
until cool and of spreading consist
ency. Makes cups, or enough
frosting to cover tops of three It- or
9-inch layers.

and buttermilk to chocolate mixture,
beating after each addition until bat

or 9-inch layer pans, lined on bottoms
with paper.
Bake in moderate oven (350 F.)
for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool. For frost
ing, use either elegant recipe below.

Coffee Whipped Cream Frosting
2V4 cups whipping cream
44 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
412 teaspoons Instant Maxwell House
Coffee
I Vl teaspoons vanilla
Place cream, sugar, coffee, and vanilla
in chilled howl. Bcal until cream holds
its shape. (Do not overheat.) Makes
about 5 cups, or enough to cover lops
and sides of three 8- or 9-inch layers.
For extra elegance, sprinkle lop and
sides generously with Baker's Angel
Flake Coconut.
