Junior Girls Enjoy
AAUW College Preview
The junior girls from the high
trhools of Klamath County were
the guests of the American Associ
ation of University Women at a
College Preview dessert on March
2ft at the Willard Hotel.
- Mrs. A. H. Patterson Jr., branch
president, welcomed the high
school girls. She then introduced
Mrs. Charles B. Larkin. program
chairman for the day. Mrs. Lar
kin presented Mrs. Walter Bador
ek who sang a group of solo selec
tions accompanied by Mrs. Le
land Agcnhroad.
Informal talks about college life
were given by four coeds. Janic
Larkin represented the Universi
ty of Oregon, Gail Nerseth dis
cussed Stephens College and
Southern Oregon College, and.lanc
Jleiuel and Shirley Mock told of
life at Oregon State College.
The highlight of the afternoon
was a charming style show pre
sented by Mrs. Paul Angstead
from the Bon Bazaar and Fashion
Villa. The models were Mrs. Lar
ry Amundson, graduate of Univer
sity of Southern California: Mrs
George Clark, graduate of Uni
versity of Oregon; Nancy Clark
senior, Lniversity of Oregon;
Charlene Finchum, junior, South
ern Oregon College; Margaret

The tables were decorated
with streamers of the various Ore
gon Colleges. Informative college
pamphlets and brochures were
placed on the tables for the jun
ior girls' use.
Committee chairmen whose hard
work contributed to the success
of the afternoon were Mrs. P. D
Mead, Mrs. R. Frank Tucker,
Mrs. Julian Kccles, Mrs, A. Ivan
Amundson. Mrs. Charles B. Lar
kin was the general chairman.

came the bride of Richard Grey
don Broyles. both of Santa Bar
bara, on March 18 at the Bible
Baptist Church in Klamath Falls.
White and orchid stock and car
nations set the color theme of the
ceremony. They were arranged in
tall beauty baskets, backed by
ferns and lighted tapers in floor
candelabra.
The bride is the daughter of the
Rev. and Mrs. Arthur Van De
Zande of Oakridge. Mr. and Mrs.
Greydon Broyles of this city are
parents of the bridegroom.
The 7:30 service was performed
by the bride's father, who also
gave her in marriage. He was
assisted by the Rev. Freeman
Schmitt, pastor of the church, and
the Rev. A. 0. Broyles, retired,
grandfather of the bridegroom.
As the bride entered the church.
her bridegroom sang "Because."
Her gown was of heavy white taf
feta beaded with seed pearls
around the scoop neckline and
down the front of the empire
waist. The full skirt swept out into
a chapel train. A coronet crown
embroidered with seed pearls held
the lingertip veil and she carried a
cascade of white carnations cen
tered with a Cattelaya orchid in
a delicate orchid shade.
Orchid satin ballerina length
gowns, made with three-quarter
length sleeves, scoop necklines and
orchid lace midriffs, were worn by
the attendants. Matron of honor,
Mrs. Ron Van De Zande of The
Dalles, sister-in-law of the bride.
carried white carnations and or
chid bell-heather on a white back
ground. Sisters of the bridegroom,
Colleen and Kathleen Broyles, both
of Santa Barbara, were brides
maids. Their flowers were t h e
same as those of the matron of
honor, but with orchid background.
Patricia Broyles, sister of the
bridegroom, and Sylvia Day, can
dlelighters. were dressed as the
bridal attendants.
Flower girls were the bride
groom's niece, Teresa Ann Kriner
of Nyssa. and Shelly Pozar of Oak
ridge, cousin of the bridegroom
Their frocks were also of orchid
satin and lace with two satin roses
at the waist. The attendant' gowns,
were designed by the bride.
Michael Pozar of Oakridge. the
bridegroom's cousin, was the ring
hearer.
Tile Rev. Robert Kriner ol Nys
sa, brother-in-law of the bride
groom, was best man. Ushers were
the bride's brother, Ron Van De
Zande of The Dalles, and Roland
Smith.
Mrs. Howard Commons played
the wedding music. Greydon
Broyles, the bridegroom's father,
sang "F.ach For The Other" and
"The Lord's Prayer."
The ncwlyweils greeted approxi
mately 175 guests at a reception in
Fields Hall following their mar
riage. For the occosion Mrs. Van
De Zande chose a blue and white
taffeta dress with white accesso
ries. Mrs. Broyles wore a jacket
dress of blue lace over taffeta
with white hat. Both mothers wore
corsages of cymbidium orchids.
Daffodils, hcalher and carna
tions, against a background of
terns and evergreens, were ar
ranged by Mrs. Robert Caster,
Mrs. Oscar Stenlierg, Mrs. Rob
ert Kwing. Mrs. Carl F-wing and
Florence Smith.
White wedding bells hung above
the table centered with the bride's
cake, made by Mrs. Wesily Car
ter. It was decorated with white
roses and bells ami encircled at
the base with orchid carnations
and terns. Afler the cake was
first cut by the bridal couple it
was served by Mrs. Lloyd Day.
Presiding at the coffee and punch
tables were Mrs. Robert Kriner.

and Carol Long received gifts and
Mrs, Russell C'arr attended the
guest bock. Assisting were Mrs.

do. The new Mrs Broyles changed
to a iH'ige outfit, jersey sheath
dress and camel hair coat, for
the wedding trip along the coast to
San Fi'.uicisco and to their home
in Santa Barbara. She is a grad
uate of North Bend High School
and Westmont College of S.inta
Barbara where she was acme in
music.
The bridegroom, graduate of
Klamath Union High School, at
tends City College in Santa Bar
bara and is employed at Pcnta
Laboratories. He is well known
in church, radio and TV music
circles for his tenor voice.
