Open House
Marks Birthday

Initios of Montague, was greeted
on her 80lh birthday by approxi
mately 80 of her relatives and
friends at an open house birthday
Tuesday afternoon, March 15, in
St. Joseph's Parish Hall.
A St. Patrick's Day motif was
used for the decorations. The buf
fet table, covered with a green
cloth, was centered with a birth
day rake, flanked with bouquets
of flowers. The honored guest re
ceived many gifts, cards, flowers
and lovely houseplanls.
Mrs. Lemos was born on March
IS, 1880, in Hawkinsville. a com
munity located north of Yreka.
When her parents later moved to

distance of four miles to attend
the Bailey Mill School, which was

In 1504 , she was married to
George Lemos, who was also born
at Hawkinsville. For two years af
ter their marriage the couple re
sided at Kdgewood. They moved
to .the present ranch home on the
Montague-Yreka road in 11)06.
where all their children were
born and reared.
The couple had six children,
all boys, four of whom are still
living. They are Finest, who lives
at Bogus; F.dwin and Clarence
both of -Montague, and Lawrence
whose home is at Hornbrook.
There are nine grandchildren, and
six great grandchildren.'
Some of the groups in which Mrs.
Lemos is active are the Green
horn Grange, Home Economics
Club, the Shasta Valley Garden
Club of Montague, Pocahontas, and
the SPItlS. a women's Calholic
organization.
Among those assisting at the
party were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Lemos, Mrs. Edwin Lemos, Mrs.
Ed Clement and Mr. and Mrs.
Maurice Ditlncr.

Oregon, and Edna Hunnicutt. grand
representative of Washington in
Oregon.
Gifts for the honored guests and
favors for all present were passed
by the Courtesy Court.
Belle Wells, assisted by Bess
Frasier, arranged for the refresh
ments and decorations of the ta
bles. A five-tiered pink and white
cake topped with the emblematic
star was served.
In charge of individual birthday
tables were Martha Stearns, Flor
ence West, Isabelle Sanders, Ruth
Mussclman. Bess Frasier, Verla
Land, Nellie Angstead. Delight
Hicks. Dorothy Post, Thelma Love
lace, Peggy Harnsberger and Flor
ence Briggs.
WELCOMED by a group of 30 Klamath Falls women at a no-host luncheon March
19 in the PeHcan Party Room was Shirley Fields, state representative from Multnomah
County. Introduced by Eva Cook, the honored guest spoke informally about her particu-
