Yreka DAR Hears Historical Talk5
; YREKA Mrs. Jesse DeAvilla of
Klamath River was the featured
speaker at the recent luncheon of
lie Siskiyou Chapter, Daughters of
he American Revolution.
Mrs. DeAvilla'i topic was based
oh "Famous Historical Trailwayir"
and opened her verbal tour with
Daniel Boone's trip through Cum
berland Gap in 1775. She then de
scribed the trek made by Lewis
and Clark through . the Northwest
and also outlined a brief sketch
of the par played by Jim Bridg
er as discoverer of South Pass
and Great Salt Lake.
O '. In her talk, Mrs. DeAvilla also
ipvered the Pony Express, the
anta Fe Trail, and the Arrow
head Trail which led from Utah
. to Southern California.
; Hostesses for the dessert lunch

James M. Allen Sr., Mrs. Lura
fiuckner, and Mrs. Marshall Fish
er. : Atlanta Adams, regent for the
Eiskiyou Chapter, opened the busi
ness session, with Mrs. William
Enselc, chaplain, following with
prayer.
; Mrs. William Newton read the
president general's message, and
Mrs. Robert DeNure reported on
enealogy. Mrs. Albert Parrott re
ported on the museum display of
ihe DAR, which maintains a case
of articles there.
: According to a report by Mrs.
William Newton, eight girls from
eight different high schools in Sis
kiyou County will be honored at
the April meeting as winners of
good citizens' pins. Mrs, Lawrence
Lichens, chairman for national de

Federated Womens Club enjoyed
an instructive afternoon when
they met at the home of Mrs.
Desey Sullivan recently, and heard

Engagement
BURNEY - Mr. and Mrs. Wil
Ham R. Dawson of Marysville
have announced the engagement
of their daughter, Margaret Ellen,
to Lt. Glenn R. Robinson of
Burney, formerly of Yuba City.
The bride-elect, a graduate of
Marysville Union High School, at
tended the University-, of Califor
nia at Berkeley.
Robinson, a graduate of the
Yuba City Union High School at
tended Yuba College and is a Navy
aviator stationed in San Diego.
The wedding will be this month.
