Monday evening. March 7, at the
city library with Mrs. Julian M
Ager, regent, presiding. Opening
exercises consisted of pledge to
the flag, singing of the Star Span
gled Banner and the repeating in
unison of Washington's Prayer.
During the business meeting
matters to be presented at the
state conference were discussed.
Mrs. J. M. Ager and Mrs. A. 0.
Koenicke represented the chapter
at this conference held at Eugene
March 9, 10 and 11. Their reports
will be made at the April 4 meet
ing at Fremont School.
Mrs. R. S. Loosely reported on
the Historic Trailway Essay
awards made recently. There were
many fine entries. Mrs. R. L. Hall
gave the national defense report
and there was considerable dis
cussion on proposed legislation, es
pecially that concerning the World
Court.
Mrs. Rcymond L. Hall had the
program on "The Welfare State,
Is This Our Belief?" It was sug
gested that a candidate's ques
tionnaire include the following
questions: Is he trying to expand
the scope of government, or to
reduce it? Is he trying to extend
the functioning of government into
areas where it will be in direct
competition with private business?
Ihe meeting was concluded with
delicious refreshments served by
the hostesses Mrs. Arch G. Proc
tor, Mrs. William L. Wales Jr.,
Mrs. Dick Owens, Mrs. E. M. Chil
cole and Mrs. Dick Henzel.

home wedding Friday evening
February 26, united in marriage
Barbara Karen Gutzler and Larry
D. Stillcy. Approximately 70 guests
witnessed the ceremony performed
by the Rev. Harold Engdahl at
the home of the bride's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Gutzler.
The bride, a graduate of Mount
Shasta schools, attended College
of the Siskiyous. She is presently
employed as ski instructor and sec
retary at Ml. Shasta Ski Bowl.
Jeannie Poe was bridesmaid and
Robert Hill served as best man.
Wedding music was played by
Dorothy Mason.
Ushers were Aaron and Gary
Richardson.
The bridegroom, son of Mrs.
Norman Dorland of Olympia,
Washington, and Robert W. Slilley
of Mount Shasta, is also a graduate
of Mount Shasta schools. He at
tended Shasta College. At present
he is an employe of Ralph L.
Smith Lumber Company at Cas
tclla and Mt. Shasta Ski Bowl.
A reception followed the eight
o'clock ceremony. The wedding
cake and punch were served by
Mr. and Mrs. John W. Johnson of
Mammoth Lodge, California. The
guest book was. passed by Mrs.
Gary Richardson.
After a wedding trip to central
California the newlywcrls will be
at home in Mount Shasta.

SADDLE CLUB
Dorothy Harrington, president,
conducted the regular business
meeting of the Klamath Saddle
Club March 1 at the new home of
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Britton on
Washburn Way. Mrs. Britton was
assisted by Clara Howard.
The annual birthday party, ob
serving 16 years, will be held April
5 at the home of Bessie Lilly on
the Merrill Highway. Officers will
be elected at this meeting.
Lura Dunlavy reported on the
Quota Club dinner which she and
Bonnie Mc.Mahon attended on
February 26 in the Pelican party
room. She told briefly of Dr. Leon
ard Mayfield's talk on Russia.
