the Dunsmuir Tigers finished their
Siskiyou League basketball season
' Friday night in fourth place, they
ended it on a happy note by trip
ping the Weed Cougars 53-52 for
the first time in coach Dave
Blount's seven-year tenure.
. The Tigers iced the game with
14 seconds remaining when Tom
Lonoy took a pass from teammate
Jeff Hawkins and scored the win
ning basket with a layup. The
lead changed hands several times
during the game with the Tigers
nursing a one to four point lead
most of the way.
'. Dunsmuir led at the end of the
first quarter 14-13 and increased
the margin to 26-23 at the half. The
Cougars cropped off two points
from the lead in the third and
trailed 40-41 with eight minutes re
maining. The Cougars led 52-51
with a minute remaining when Lo-
ney dropped in the winning bucket.
Tigers' Lonoy, Hawkins and Mur
ray Crowe played outstanding
games. Loney was high with 16
Hawkins tallied 13 and Crowe
eight. Doug Blaiikenship was high
for the Cougars with 14 counters.
The victors garnered 23-33 at
the free throw line and connected i

12-20 at the charily stripe and
