a King and queen to reign over
the festivities will be highlight of
the evening. Their identity will be
revealed Friday evening.

THOUGHTS FOR MEDITATION
In the 10th chapter of the Gos
pel according to Mark, two of
Christ's disciples asked for cer
tain positions in His kingdom. His
answer shows that there is no
such thing among the subjects of
Mis kingdom that is comparable
to what we call greatness.
There maybe some qualitative
difference in the summation of
our lives as Christians, but it is
not necessarily true that those who
have gained fame as evangelists
or writers or those who have ex
celled in some "religious vocation"
will be greater than the simple
Christian.
Our true value as a Christian
will not be measured by what we
have gained as much as by what
we have given up. When we can
sacrifice all we have or hope for
in life to Christ and submit our
selves wholly unto His will, then
we have reached the ultimate in
service to our God.

a severe shaking up since Billy
Graham pitched his first pulpit in
Monrovia late in January and then
headed south through the palm
trees.
Graham's nine-man team of
evangelists is spreading the gos
pel in this turbulent, primitive con
tinent as it never has been done
before. Old time missionaries
plagued by slow river boals, long
jungle hikes and malarial mos
quitoes wouldn't believe It.
Every move, every meeting, al
most every prayer, has been
planned in advance with a preci
sion that would charm a general.
The American evangelist wound
up his crusade in western Nigeria

PORTLAND (AP) Milton Van
Horn asked the City Council to
amove his name from the mem
orial commemorating the Port-
and men who died in World War
II. The council agreed.
Van Horn, 44, a bricklayer, said
his name was discovered by a
friend who also was listed on the
memorial. Both were wounded in
tho Italian campaign in World
War II.
The council will have the names
painted out on the big billboard
memorial on the city's west side.

rican tour 2,306 persons were con
verted and about 7,000 Christians
rededicated. "
He has run into some hostility
but the over-all reception has been
enthusiastic.
Much of the credit for the cru
sade's smooth operation goes to
two associates, Jerry Bcavan, 41,
of Bethesda, Md., and Charles
Riggs, 43, of Nashville, Tenn.
Bcavan is a former teacher, news
broadcaster and sports editor.
Riggs worked seven years in the
Texas oilfields and spent four
years in the Army before he
joined Graham.
Last May, the Rev. Howard
Jones, an American Negro and
Baptist minister from Cleveland.
visited Africa. He went down the
West Coast and up the East Coast
and recommended meeting places.
Bcavan and Riggs then took over.
They spent seven weeks last fall

and airline reservations for a tour
which started at Dakar, extended
as far south as Bulawayo in South
ern Rhodesia and then proceeded
up to Ruanda-Urundi, Tanganyika.

it is based on the 41st and 42nd

Operation Andrew is an organ
ized effort among Christians in the
community "to bring their un
committed friends under the
sound of the gospel by making
certain that they are in attend
ance at the campaign meetings."

blies of God Churches was held
at the Lorclla Full Gospel Church
on . January 25. Churches repre
sented were Lakcvicw, Bly,
Sprague River, Chiloquin, Merrill,
Malin and Klamath Falls.;
Each church provided special
music for the afternoon and eve
ning services.
Mrs. William Rem of Chiloquin
was speaker for the afternoon and
the Rev. M. D. Davidson, super
intendent of the Oregon District
was the evening speaker.
The Lorclla church served
spaghetti and meat ball dinner to
over 100 persons at 6 o'clock.
