RED BLUFF Ever hear ol

pointed young lovers but from
tmiL'h hardened cattlemen. And
what happens there often affects
your dinner,
iioaithrpiik Allev is the area at
the annual Red Bluff Bull Sale
where bulls get their first inspec
tion before ciualifvins for a closer
look by the grading committee.
Hundreds of cattlemen irom
upelprn stnfps will hp here Febru
nru 4-fi fur the annual bull sale
and to watch the sifting, grading
and sale of 350 Hcreiorcis, ub jn
us and 42 Shorthorns, all "Red
Bluff Type" bulls.
Can the bull walk DroDerly?
This is one of the things which
the sifting committee must deter
mine. The bull must spend mucn
of life in rough country and he'll
have to be able to get around
easily.
If he is found spund of hoof
and limb, then the grading com
niitlpp will look him over.
Krh hull must have what
iininps nail "character and mas
culinity." Each must have ample
size for age and should be deep,
smooth and thick with plenty of
bone and straight hind legs.
His flesh must be in trie ngni
places; those places which pro
duce the rib roasts and top quality
steaks.
if hp has all these dualities
limn his offsnrine should have
them too. And that's important to
you, because the ilea Biutt saie

grade on the animal, in tne is
years of bull sale history, only
four nf the 7.000 bulls sold have
been judged perfect. But even a
" one minus bun win Dnng sev
eral thousand dollars. Most of the
other 500 animals will sell from
$300 to $1,000.

WHAT EVERY DIFFER KNOWS
BURLINGTON, Vt. (UPD-Fcd-
cial judge Ernest Gibson ruled
that neither professional nor ama

their shots. He dismissed a $25,000
suit brought by George Fraser, as
sistant pro at the Burlington Coun
try Club, who said he was struck
in the right eye by a practice
drive while retrieving some golf
balls. Judge Gibson said that "golf
is a game in which the greatest
of world professionals will, on oc
