The announcement of the rousing
success of the November carnival
was the most important item of
business at the January 12 meet
ing of the Fairhaven Parents and
Patrons presided over by Mrs
Bernard Fiegl, president. Mrs.
.Martha Mikkelscn, general chair
man, was generous in thanking all
the members for their cooperation
and help for this fund raising pro
cct.
Fire Chief Roy Rowe showed
his many excellent slides of the
Roscburg disaster which were lak
cn only two days after the ex
plosion.
First American to win the Nobel
Prize for literature was Sinclair,
Lewis, in 1930.
ALTAMONT
Final plans for the Altamont
PTA Carnival were announced at
the regular meeting Tuesday. Jan
uary 12. The carnival, which will
be held Friday, January 29, in the
junior high school gymnasium, is
the fund raising project of the
year for the Altamont PTA.
The proceeds will meet the budg
ct for the year and the remainder
will be used for items at both
schools that may not be pur
chased with regular school funds.
.Mrs. Don Hummel . and .Mrs.
Duane Cassidy are general chair
men for this event. There will be
cotton candy, popcorn, hot dogs,
and all the usual game booths. A
portable TV will be given away
during the evening and a king and
queen from both schools will be
crowned. They will be selected on
a basis of advance ticket sales by
students.
President, Mrs. Bill Mayhew,
conducted the January 12 meeting.
Cub Scouts from Pack Two con
ducted the flag ceremony which
opened the brief business session
Harvey Denham, principal of the
junior high school, announced that
the Klamath fminrv ' finoar-h
Festival for all junior high age
students will be held at Altamont
Junior High Schbol February 12.
The room count for the eve
ning was won by Mrs. H. L. Lan
dis' seventh grade and Mrs. Carl
Proebstel's third grade.
Elementary school parents were
given a curriculum over-view on
mathematics and science in the
grade of their choice while iunior
high parents enjoyed a question
and answer period on school nrnh.

A Founders Day program will be
featured at the next recular meet
ing on February 9 in the junior
high school.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Klamath County Advisory
Committee of Home Extension
met on January 14 at the home
of Mrs. John Kloiber for the regu
lar monthly meeting. Mrs. Orville
Fcrrell presided. All members
were present.
Mrs. Ruth Dyer, home extension
agent, gave a report of her office.
Pattern fitting will be the project
for the next month.
The program planning , meeting
will be on January 22 at 10:30
a.m. at the fairgrounds. Members
are asked to bring a sack lunch
and coffee will be furnished.
