number of theaters in the West which will have the premiere
showing of the movie. More than 50,000 prizes are being
offered to moviegoers who offer best idea on how to use
Invisible ray which is the theme of the movie. When Malork
shook hands with the invisible man, photographer Wes
Guderian used some darkroom magic to bring out the out
lines of the transparent man. The movie will be shown in
Klamath Falls January 22 through January 28.

to develop over-all policy.
The vote was taken during a

Tuesday. The liberal group had
'sought a stronger voice in deter
mining tactics and policy.
. By a 51-11 vote the caucus then
directed Johnson to continue to
appoint members of the party
Steering Committee, which makes
assignments of individual senators
to coveted standing committee

the warpath over all that redskin
.blood being spilled in television
Westerns.
I Fifty braves and chiefs from 11
tribes held a pow-wow here Tues
day night aimed at defending the
red man's reputation from the
ravages of TV.
: They issued a call to Indians all
over the country to battle "tele'
vision's persistent erroneous por
trayal of Indian history."
"Television makes the younger
generation think that Indians were
only savages," complained Choc
taw Jack Davidson. "The Indians
only protected their homes. Tele
vision never tells about the cul
tural advances of the American
Indians."
The Indians plan to protest TV
Westerns to President Eisenhower
and heads of TV networks.

follow the course he has in the

This has involved restraint in
criticizing President Eisenhower
and the tailoring of legislation in
an effort to avoid Presidential
vetoes. It has meant the enact
ment of compromise measures
rather than passage of bills de
signed mainly to build up a Dem
ocratic political record.
Sen. Albert Gore (D-Tenn), who
led the fight to take away some
of Johnson's powers, said he
thought the battle "augurs well
for our party." "
"Though we lost this time, we
may have won in seeming to
lose, he said.
A sharper comment came from
Sen. Paul Douglas (D-IU), who
began a move to have more cau
cuses at which the 65 Senate
Democrats could air their views.
"It is apparent that a majority
of the senators are not yet ready
for political self-government but
prefer to stay in a state of politi
cal colonialism," Douglas said.
Johnson said he will continue,
as he has for 10 years, to call
a caucus whenever the leadership
determines it would be desirable
or useful, "or when any single
senator desires to call a confer
ence" and will take responsibility
for having it called.
Johnson noted Gore had sug
gested that the performance of
individual Democrats be mea
sured against party policy evolved
by the nine-member committee
which Gore wanted to increase to
15 members.
The committee now confines its
activities largely to deciding the
timing of Senate consideration of
legislation. Johnson said it will be
renamed to make clear it is not
a policy-forming group.
"Personally," Johnson said, "I
would not attempt to state the
policy of my colleagues and I do
not think I would want to be a
member of a committee which
did so. I don't think members, 9
members, 12 members or even 15
members can state policy for 65."
