THE ENGAGEMENT of Vauna Pipal and George Brandt
was announced in Boise during the holidays by her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pipal. The bride-elect attended the
University of Oregon for two years where she was a mem
ber of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, Kwauma, sophomore
womens honorary, and was also honored as Little Colonel
ef the military ball. She is now a junior student in biology
at Willamette University where her fiance is a first year
law student. He was graduated from the University of
Oregon in June and is affiliated with Phi Kappa Psi fratern
ity. While at the university he was a member of the Persh
ing Rifles,- Skull and Dagger and Druids. A late summer
wedding is planned by the couple.
Vauna Pipal arrived in Klamath Falls on Wednesday to
visit at the home of her fiance's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
A. L. Brandt, 1345 Pacific Terrace. Several affairs have
been planned for the popular couple during the New Year

MR. AND MRS. DELBERT ADDISON, 1887 Lakeshore
Drive, have announced the engagement of their daughter,
Mary Margaret, to Richard G. Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs.
George H. Clark of Klamath Falls.
Both young people are graduates of Klamath Union
High School. Mary Margaret is a junior at Stanford Univer
sity. Dick is now attending advanced flight training at
USNAAS, Chase Field, Boeville, Texas, as a naval aviation
cadet. He is scheduled to be commissioned as ensign on
February 26.
No date has been set for their wedding.

ORCHIDS FROM HAWAII, sent by air by the father of
a charming young visitor, arrived at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. George P. McMichael, 5144 Bryant Avenue, on
Christmas Day. The delicate blossoms were admired by
Shirlene McMichael, left, and her royal houseguest, Betsy
Lee of Hawaii, chosen 1959 University of Oregon home
coming queen. Both girls, Shirlene, a sophomore, and Betsy,
junior, are university students. Mr. and Mrs. Michael
were Christmas dinner hosts also to Mr. and Mrs. Ernie
Bishop and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Santo and family

MARGARET WORTLEY GERBER'S engagement to
Charles D. Cheyne was announced this week by her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Gerber. He is the son of Mrs.
Crystel Cheyne and the late Alex Cheyne. The news of the
betrothal was told to members of the family and close
friends at a buffet supper given by the bride-elect's par
ents at their home, 329 High Street, on Tuesday, December

TINY NANCY BOYD is wide eyed and interested .in all the activity of her first
holiday season. She is the five-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Boyd who arrived
this week from Daly City to spend New Year's .with Mrs. Boyd's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Stewart Snell. On Christmas Nancy and her parents were guests of her other grandpar
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd A. Boyd, former Klamath Falls residents now living in Fresno.
