is called Chocolate Peanut Crunch
Bars. They are made with semi-

CHOCOLATE PEANUT
CRLN'CII BARS
3 cups sifted flour
ll cups brown sugar, firmly
packed
i cup butter or margarine
' cup shortening
1-3 cup crunchy peanut butter !
' teaspoon salt
1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
TOPPING
1 cup 16 oz.i semi-sweet
chocolate pieces
l'i cups Special K (ready to
eat cereal1
j cup crunchy peanut butter
Blend together flour, brown su
gor. butter, shortening, peanut
butler and salt until mixture re
sembles coarse corn meal. Add
egg yolk and vanilla; mix well.
Press mixture firmly into un
greased 15 x 10-inch jelly roll
pan. Bake in moderate oven 3i0
degrees) about 23 minutes. Cool
slightly.
Melt chocolate over hot but not
boiling water. Stir in peanut butter
and special K. Spread on slightly
cooled cookie dough. Let stand un
til chocolate hardens. Cut into ban
to serve.
Yield: 48 bars, 2'i x l' Inches.
