One player (Highway Watchman) stands apart from
the other players (Travelers). He silently writes a let
ter of the alphabet and puts it in his pocket. He must
not tell it. Travelers walk, one at a time, past the
Watchman, who asks each one, "Where are you going
and what will you buy?" The Traveler says, "I am
going to market to buy ..." and he names five things
such as bread, candy, etc. If one begins with the letter
the Watchman has chosen, he is passed. (If Watchman
has chosen S and Traveler says, perhaps, sugar, he can
go on.) If not, he is turned back and tries again later.
The game goes on until only one player has not reached
the market. He is Watchman the next game.
