MRS. J. F. KIMBALL
Mrs. J. F. Kimball
Dies At La Jolla
Word has been received by Hal
H. Ogle of the death of Mrs, Jack
son F. (Lyle Watson) Kimball at
La Jolla, California, on August 1.
Mrs. Kimball and Hal Ogle were
cousins.
She has been a resident of Klam
ath County for many years.
Mrs. Kimball, wife of the late
Jackson F. Kimball in whose hon
or Kim-ball Park was named, was
well known in Klamath and Lake
counties. She was a descendant of
Klamath County and Jacks'on Coun
ty pioneers, the Chitwood and the
Watson families. Her father, C. B.
Watson, was a well known author
and geologist of Jackson County.
Mrs. Kimball before her marriage
was identified with the Klamath
County government in various ca
pacities, having been an early
court reporter and at one time a
deputy county clerk.
She was active in civic work
and (or years a member of the
Woman's Library Club and served
as a member of the city library
board. It was while serving in this
capacity that her vigorous work,
together with that of other ener
getic women of the community,
succeeded in getting an adequate
building for the city library, and
the present fine building was acquired.
She organized the Business and
Professional Women's Club with a
charter membership of about 14
businesswomen. Later when that
service club had reached a mem
bership of over 100, she was pre
sented with a life membership. She
was a charter member of the Del
phian Society and at one time a
member of the League of Western
Writers.
Mrs. Kimball is survived by one
brother, Chandler Watson, La Jol
la, with whom she made her home
for some years.
Funeral arrangements will be
announced later.

Plague Stories
Recall Outbreak
MOUNT SHASTA News dis
patches from other points in Cali
fornia, reporting cases of bubonic
plague claiming juvenile victims,
recall that a little more than 15
years ago, a young boy living near
Mount Shasta was a victim of the
dread disease. Three other cases
developed in Siskiyou County, two
proved fatal.
During the early 1940s there
were 36 spots in Siskiyou County
marked by state public health of
ficials as points of infection among
rodents. No recent outbreaks have
occurred, and no apparent disease
among rodents exists now.
Medical authorities believe that
a heavy rodent population is more
likely to cause an outbreak of
plague than any other factor.
