DORRIS A fourth offense
charge was levied recently in traf
fic court against a Colusa man,
Tom Jackson Holscy. 55.
The complaint against Holsey
was signed by the California High
way Patrol. He was charged with
drunk driving and driving on the
wrong side of the road. Judge Les
Chase fined him $525 and he was
given a 90 day sentence.
Holsey was also charged with
driving without an operator's li
cense and driving while his li
cense was suspended. Judge
Chase added a So)0 fine or 60 days
in the county jail. , . .
He was committed in lieu of the

Trustees is slated for Saturday at
1:30 p.m. at the Dunsmuir High
School. This is the public hearing
prior to budget adoption. Del Poe.

There is a slight increase over
last year's budget according to
Poe who did not have the 1958-59
figures at hand. He attributed the
increase to salary adjustments and
higher ' costs generally, but said
with an increased state apportion
ment and higher assessed valua
tion of the district, the school will
be well within its income this year.
Poe reported the faculty for this
year is complete except for a com
mercial teacher. Driver traininc
will be a new course taught byi
Leo Smith who is attending San
Jose State summer session. Smith,
a school custodian, will also drive
the high school bus this year.
Dunsmuir High School has been

California Association of Second
ary School Administrators as a re
sult of the recent study of school
plant, faculty and curriculum. Poe

MOUNT SHASTA-Prospects for
a swimming pool at Mount Shasta
were just about scuttled by the
Siskiyou County Board of Super
visors at a special meeting in the
city hall here Wednesday night.
After hearing detailed discussion
on the proposal for a 25 cent in
crease in a special tax levy by the
recreation district, the supervisors
voted to withdraw the levy.
Three .speakers spoke in favor
of the move, while six others op
posed it. A vote taken among those
present indicated 31 favored and
21 opposed the special tax levy.
If the measure had carried, the
money it raised would have been
combined with some high school
funds and money raised through
public subscription to build a mod-

Miller, was recently awarded a
$500 scholarship at the school of
her choice from the California La
bor Federation AFL-CIO.
The award was granted on the
basis of results of an examination
taken on May 15 on labor history
and labor-management relations.
In addition to the monetary gift.

tion to be held in San Diego from
