ing Monday night held at the home
o( Mrs. Robert Davies. Irs. Fen-
ning. who is leaving Klamath Falls
to teach at Oswego School, has
been a member of Toastmislress
for many years. Members or Mrs
Fenning's club, Mount Mazama
Toastmistress, were invited to par
ticipate in the meeting.
Topics, led by Mrs. H. F. 'Bud'
Smith, were excerpts from Shake
speare. The program, with a theme
ol State Parks, was introduced by
Mrs. Robert Davics. Rowena Mc
Donald spoke on "Parks to the
East Parks to the West." "Cas
cade Wonderland" was the title ol
a speech given by Mrs. Fred Jour
neay. Mrs. A. R. Whetstone gave
an impromptu speech entitled
"Farewell to Leigh" and presented
Mrs. Fenning with a gift.
Critics for the evening were
guests from Mt. Mazama Club.
The next meeting of Ewauna
Toastmistress will be August to.
Fete Ends
In Tragedy
EL PASO, Tex. (AP)-A fam
ily birthday celebration ended
tragically Wednesday when a fa
ther shot two of his children to
death, then killed himself.
Police said Pedro Acosta, 39,
fatally shot his daughter Patricia
and his son Alejandro. The girl
was celebrating her eighth birth
day and her brother his sixth.
Acosta also critically wounded
another daughler, Celia, 10.
Relatives told police Acosta had
been out of work for several
months and had suffered a nerv
ous and mental breakdown.
He seemed in good spirits dur
ing the party. The family was
drinking soda pop in the front
y.ird. Then Acosta sent the children
into the house and followed them.
His wife heard shots and ran to a
neighbor for help.

SHASTA VIEW
'Shasta View Grangers were vic
tims of a surprise attack by In
dians during a meeting the eve
ring of July 17. But no massacre
resulted, and members discovered
that the marauders were masquer
ading grangers from Valley Falls
near Lakeview.
A number of Juvenile Grange
members and about 25 adults from
Valley Falls were dressed in In
dian and pioneer costume for the
visit.
Ray Brackman, Valley Falls
lecturer, who acted as master and
three youths presented a baseball
skit.
Robert Crapo of Midland Grance
and Earl Sheridan, Lost River
Grange, also were guests. Potluck
dinner was served and Ihe eve
ning ended- with piano music by
a Valley Falls member.

United Stales plans to finance a
tourist promotion nroiect which
Israel has been urging for two

the House Appropriations Commit

marked for Ihe Tourist Corp. of

For Cemetery
NEW PINE CHEEK Cliff Par-
tin, Lake County road foreman in
charge of county trucks, has an
nounced that recent action of the
Lake County Court has made
trucks available for cemetery use.
When graves are dug mechani
cally, dirt can be thrown into a
dump truck and moved, outside the
cemetery until after the services
Then the truck load nf dirt can
he brought back and put into the
grave, relieving pallbearers of re'
filling Ihe grave.
Individuals desiring the use of
a county truck for this purpose
will be required to obtain permis
sion, go get the truck and return
it.
Anyone wishing to secure
