Renewal Set
For Licenses
Licensed school bus drivers have
been urged by the Oregon Depart
nent of Motor Vehicles to renew
their licenses now for the (all
school term.
Licenses of more than 2,300 of
these drivers who were licensed
during the initial year of the pro
gram expire on July 1.
Applications for renewal are
availahre from any driver license
examiner or county school superin
tendent. They may be tiled with
examiners or mailed to the De
partment of Motor Vehicles in Sa
lem.
Physical examination forms are
available from the same sources.
Physicals are required every three
years for drivers 18-34 years of
age: every two years for drivers
35-44 and annually for drivers 45
and over. A person 45 or over
need not have a physical -for re
newal this year if his license was
issued on or after March 1. 1959.
Edward M. Syring. manager of
the department's drivers license
division, indicated that temporary
school bus driver permits for em
ergency drivers would be discon
tinued next school year. He said
that if a licensed school bus driv
er and his substitute are not avail
able, a driver with a chauffeur's
license may he used at the discre
tion of the school administrator or
school bus contractor.
